  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's a video showing the head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, avoiding specific answers to questions from Republican senators. Then she left. Note age is not always a determining factor for a politician, Senator Marsha Blackburn at age 72 was able to run after her.

Good for her. When the head of the Secret Service is afraid of a 72 year old woman, it's time for tar and feathers.

It would not surprise me at all that Kimberly Cheatle will do and say anything that she can possibly say or do in order to avoid herself taking FULL accountability for the Secret Service failures on July 13th.

If I was the governor of a state holding a political event for a Secret Service protected individual, I would ignore the Secret Service and set up my own security. The national guard along with other state and local law enforcement has all the necessary competence with military police units, snipers and security experts.

I have quite a few questions about what transpired last Saturday in Butler, PA, but this is not the right way to go about getting answers.

Exactly.

Laying blame for political purposes without knowing all the facts solves nothing and only distracts from the mission of the Secret Service...a mission that includes the RNC.

The blame clearly rests with the Secret Service, who are supposed to be immune from political machinations.

Yet even the Praetorian Guard was known to “select” an Emperor (or two).

If find it kind of odd that she was even there.

Interesting tact, ganging up and bullying when that was niether the time nor the place for such questioning.
Blackburn and gang would've been better served merely informing the director of an upcoming official inquirey.

otoh, I would dearly love to see someone publically demanding answers from Opiod Marsha. She's a disgrace to this fine state.

A wide open shot from close range was allowed to take place at the leading candidate for president of the United States. Marsha Blackburn and other senators had set up a virtual online question and answer session with the head of the Secret Service, where the questions were queued up. With questions in the queue the Secret Service abruptly hung up on the senators. The United States senators are representatives of the people and the people deserve answers. This lack of security needs to be fixed now. Later Blackburn learned the head of the Secret Service was apparently staying right down the hallway from Marsha in the hotel. The Secret Service who allowed Trump to take stage even though they had previously spotted the sniper on the roof should have already been fired. What was their motive? They should be facing criminal charges for the death of the firefighter. Are we once again, just like with out of control prosecutors, having individuals trying to decide for the American people who should be president?

Your itentional use of the passive verb allowed is noted:

Allowed: give (someone) permission to do something.

"Allowed" meaning "giving someone the opportunity." It's the job of the Secret Service to take out potential snipers. They look for things like flashes from reflections--such as the opening of a window. They usually inform local residents to not even go near their windows for such an event.

...which implies the Secret Service knowingly gave someone the opportunity. To allow is knowingly giving permission or as you state, an opportunity.

I'm aware of the assassination attempt. You seem to be implying that the Secret Service was complicit?

Marsha Blackburn and other senators had set up a virtual online question and answer session with the head of the Secret Service, where the questions were queued up. With questions in the queue the Secret Service abruptly hung up on the senators.
Are you referring to this one? Or some other event?

Later Blackburn learned the head of the Secret Service was apparently staying right down the hallway from Marsha in the hotel.
You're kidding!!!???

Spot on correct - using the proper definition is vital to understanding. Thank you for expanding so everyone can understand better.

Is negligence part of complicity?

I don't know. I presume it would depend whether the neglience was intentional or not (if proven).

Negligence: failure to exercise the care that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in like circumstances
