  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

You mean something like this?.......
You'd have to ask Trump what he meant, but that wouldn't prevent Hillary from appointing SCOTUS justices (except during whatever hours she was being held against her will and tortured).

Nothing excuses Biden's words just as nothing excuses Trump's words. All politicians and people who claim to be Christians need to turn away from violent speech because there are crazy people out there listening.
I look at more as an incredibly stupid thing for a president to say about his opponent when the possibility of someone actually targeting him was so high.

Words that Biden used that might have actually triggered the shooter was him going on and on about Trump being an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs.

and anyone who believes in those words (regardless of the context) is far more likely to act on it than those who recognize it as simply political rhetoric.....

A number of Republicans are pointing fingers at President Joe Biden for Saturday’s shooting at a Trump rally, with some citing Biden’s recent statement to donors saying “it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

In a Politico article shared Monday, Biden reportedly told donors: “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

I don't think overall they are blaming Biden for it (likely some are) ... rather pointing out the hypocrisy .... When things like this is said from the republican side democrats say it's a dog whistle ... ok ... so why isn't this seen as a "dog whistle" on the democratic side? It's all mudslinging and they all do it .... that's politics.

If anyone had said that about Biden minus any kind of attempt, the Secret Service would have interrogated them and maybe pressed charges.

Mr Trump posted this video on social media. Y'all can demount from the high horse. If you accept this from your guy you need to also accept the consequences. By continuing to support this man you endorse his reprehensible behavior and by default, the reprehensible behavior he also inspires throughout the country. Do you recall Donald Trump complaining about being interrogated for posting the violent Joe Biden video? I doubt it. Those who live by the sword will probably die by it as well. It's just an interesting fact.

This kid was a registered republican, whatever that is. You can blame Joe Biden all you like if it's too difficult to accept reality. But the simple fact is we can't know (yet) the shooters motivation. Maybe his family has been wrecked by someone's unfettered support for the Donald. There are literally thousands of American families who have been negatively affected by this Trump craze. Your mind likely cannot even conceive the collateral damage inflicted on Americans from the idolization of Donald Trump.

So of course it is much easier for some to scapegoat the leader of the other party in another session of the misplaced blame game. Trump supporters have clearly illustrated they endorse political violence. Continuing to support this man for president assures me that Trump supporters continue to endorse political violence. So my advice to y'all is buckle up. And be careful for what you wish. You might get it. You are getting it. And conservatives aren't the only Americans who have weapons. The whinging is disingenuous. Buckle up and quit whining. You are getting what you paid for.

I really actually don't think it's a big deal. But it did raise my eyebrows when I first heard about it.

Yes but it differs not from Trump's rhetoric about Biden, Clinton, Obama, the January 6th committee, the jurors, the judges, those people's families, etc..

I belive the shooter has been identified as a 20 year old kid who is a Republican. Can't really twist this into Biden's fault. Be blessed.
Democrats in that state register as Republicans so they can vote in the primaries against GOP candidates they don't like

also, why in the world would a Republican go shoot Trump? --that makes zero sense

Why would anyone shoot a President or candidate? Not all Republicans are on board with Trump. We don’t know this man’s motives or political beliefs at this point anyway.

It's a good question, but it is being reported $15. Donations are registered I assume.
Donated to a progressive group, not to a Democrat or the DNC. It was also on January 20, 2021, right after January 6, and the Republicans' decision not to follow through on the impeachment of Trump brought by the House.

You realize in that state it actually means nothing. You can be a Democrat and register to vote as a republican. The Dems do it all the time in these places.

Let's wait until all is said and done before we decide about this kid. He could just be a mentally ill person looking to be famous.

Whew! Man I thought the hatred for this man was bad. This just takes it to new heights. They really are nuts out there. And their responses to the shooting just show how really unhinged they have become.

What group did he donate to?

So, what's your issue with it?

My issue is the hypocrisy. After January 6th it is clear many trumpers accept political violence. These people also endorse and encourage what we witnessed yesterday. And to pretend that it shouldn't or won't happen again is the epitome of foolishness. Keep endorsing it and you will keep enduring it as well. It's just an unfortunate fact. Violence begets more violence.

I know right. Donald Trump has basically hijacked the republican party at this stage. His DIL runs the RNC now. People act like Mr Trump has not ruffled some feathers in their own party. Heck, if memory serves me it was several republicans who brought the Colorado suit to remove Donald from the presidential ballot. Many Republicans in America want Donald Trump to fade into the obscurity he deserves every bit as much as democrats do. And after January 6th this political violence should come as little surprise.
