Do you think the President should have the power to fire rank and file government employees for political reasons (or no reason at all, as 'at will' employees)?

That's part of what Trump tried to do with an executive order near the end of his term, and what project 2025 calls for.

It's extreme.
The Federal bureaucracies are much too massive and much, much too big. The Federal bureaucracies ought to have their funding reduced big time. Also, the employees in the Federal bureaucracies should not be doing anything which goes against the expressed wishes of the President of the USA, or the expressed wishes of the cabinet secretaries. Federal bureaucracies have become the unaccountable fourth branch of the US government. We know that the US Constitution only approved of 3 co-equal branches for the federal government.

Areas and topics of agreement does NOT MEAN that these two entities and documents are going to be in lock step completely and totally with one another. Perhaps that is not too difficult to understand.
This is simply incredible; you are arguing with yourself. Out of the two positions which one do you actual subscribe to?

Fine, let's see Congress do its job and reduce funding and manpower.

But firing people for their personal views is extreme.

Doing something illegal or against policy can easily be dealt with within the civil service.

Still does not change the facts

1. Project 2025 is NOT from Trump’s nor the RNC
I think you are probably correct about it not being from Trump but it is totally from people within the RNC.

Dismissing the Heritage Foundation as an extremist organization belies its actual influence on conservative politics and Trump in particular. Trump's initial list of judges to consider for SCOTUS had considerable overlap with Heritage's own list. And the Trump Administration was composed of a lot of Heritage people, and when Trump was out, other Trump Administration officials then moved into Heritage.

The Heritage Foundation has had significant influence in U.S. public policy making, and has historically been ranked among the most influential public policy organizations in the United States.

Following Trump's victory in the 2016 presidential election, the Heritage Foundation obtained influence in his presidential transitionand administration.[61][47][62] The foundation had a say in the staffing of the administration; CNN reported during the transition that "no other Washington institution has that kind of footprint in the transition."[61] One reason for the Heritage Foundation's disproportionate influence relative to other conservative think tanks, CNN reported, was that other conservative think tanks had "Never Trump" staff during the 2016 presidential election, while the Heritage Foundation ultimately signaled that it would be supportive of him.

[before Trump was even the nominee in 2015] a Heritage Foundation economic writer, Stephen Moore, criticized Trump's policy positions, saying, "the problem for Trump is that he’s full of all of these contradictions. He’s kind of a tabula rasa on policy."

The Heritage Foundation has been uniquely successful in writing on that blank slate.

The alarm is that they have become more extreme; and they will certainly do the same in a second Trump term as they did in the first.
What is this, a cut and pasted blog article with a bunch of wikipedia hyperlinks? More boogeyman scares I say. Trump has already been president. We already know what to expect, in reality.

I'm not surprised you're afraid of facts and evidence. But you should try to work on your aversion to them. They're like spiders; no need to fear them irrationally. And they do good for us all.

If it's upsetting the left then it's probably a good thing.

Absolutely this sort of nuts/bolts stuff does not emanate from Trump. Donalds job is to get his faithful into their vibe, not wonk over details.

But Project 2025 does come from the same "best people" Trump hired previously and will have his ear if he's re-elected.

See, you don't need any facts or information. As long as the right people are suffering, it must be good.

You guys are the ones freaking out, I'm the one who's smirking. That was a really poor display of perception on your part.

Thread start: Oh no Trump has nothing do with this! Dont even worry about it.

Page five: Hey this thing is actually pretty good, Donald should run with it.

That's a result of taking boogeyman hype at face value and then seeing what it's really all about.

Only the left wing liberals believe mainstream conservatives are now extreme.
Extreme isn't always a bad thing. The nation is in shambles and therefore extreme measures need to be taken to fix it.

Private extremist organization behind Project 2025 conservative blueprint signs on as RNC convention sponsor

The Heritage Foundation, the D.C.-based think tank that produced Project 2025 — a series of policy plans to overhaul the federal government — is among the sponsors of the convention in Milwaukee next week.

The group is touted as a convention partner on the RNC host committee’s website. And Heritage plans to hold a day-long “policy fest” in downtown Milwaukee on Monday, the opening day of a convention in which Trump will officially receive the Republican nomination for president.

Thanks for the opinion piece - but there simply is not one fact or link that shows them endorsed or followed by Trump or the RNC.

It's like quoting from the extreme left and making it that all Democrats agree - it is just not accurate.

I believe the proper term could be projecting.
