I think you are too quick to throw the baby out with the bath water. If you do not like the word what words would you prefer to use? Opinions do not mean much if you have nothing to back up what you are saying.

My understanding of Jezebel is that she represents immorality, eating the wrong food which Paul addresses and abortion

The issue would be giving names to alleged "spirits".

There is a tendency in certain faith traditions to hyperfocus on the invisible. With grandiose descriptions of an invisible war being fought between good and evil. This is a tendency that has more in common with non-Christian religions like Zoroastrianism or certain heresies like forms of Gnosticism. While it forms a popular narrative in some forms of modern religion, especially American religion, it isn't Christian.

We should avoid the pitfalls of history, it is easy to fall into the trap of dualistic thinking. Falling into the trap of thinking that the world is the staging ground of a cosmic battle between good and evil, between God and the devil. But that isn't what Scripture teaches, and it isn't what Christianity has taught from beginning.

It is true that there are devils, and that they tempt us, appealing to our flesh. But we also have Christ who has already conquered, He is the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world who already has conquered sin, death, hell, and the devil. Thus we must remember that when we read that the devil is a roaring lion, this lion is not the king of the jungle, but the outcast lone scavenger feeding on scraps and which preys on the weak and the young. To borrow imagery from the Lion King, the devil is not Mufasa, he's Scar--dwelling among the hyenas and bones, skinny and famished. The devil is dangerous not because he is strong, but because he is weak and desperate. That is why he seeks whom he may kill, he is a weasel, a pest, a scavanger. And he is crushed already beneath the foot of Christ, and in Christ he is crushed beneath our feet as well. Death is dead, and dying. The devils are weak and pathetic, they are snakes and scorpions to be crushed underfoot.

Martin Luther, in his typical way of talking, once said of the devil, "Sometimes I chase him away with a fart and ask him, 'Are you going to add that to your list of sins too, devil?'"

So we need to look at what the Bible says about that. The Bible talks about unclean spirits. This is perhaps what people are talking about how Jezebel had a unclean spirit in her.

I'm only concerned about where our bible specifically names such a thing as a "spirit" of Jezebel,.... and it doesn't.
That is why there was a lot of controversy between the KJV and the NASB. The Bible uses the term unclean and people want to substitute the word Jezebel for the word unclean. In this case we are talking about Jonathan Cahn. I have read some of his book and for rme they are very simple and easy to understand. Perhaps people make a lot more out of it than what is really there. This is why they use words like paraphrase and why people object and protest against the use of paraphrased word in our translations. In the teacher training classes I attended they say we can use ll the translations for bible comments but we have to be careful not to give them all the full authority of scripture.

I do not think his books would be on the best seller list if he used the word unclean. His claim to fame is his character assignation of Jezebel and how he wants to compare other women to her. They talk about the battle of the sexes but they say women are even more vicious in thier attack on each other. Wanting to control and manipulate people.

Does the Bible make that claim?

Yes the Bible makes that claim or uses that term. I am not sure what it means. Even Paul talks about the spiritual gift of discerning of spirits. Different translations use different words for "unclean" but they all use the word "spirits".

1 Corinthians 12 10 "to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits"

Matthew 10:1 "And calling His twelve disciples to Him, Jesus gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could drive them out and heal every disease and sickness."

There is 10 or 12 more but I need to restart my computer. To clear the memory out.

My apologies, I wasn't clear.

I was talking about Jezebel having an unclean spirit.

And why would one refer to an unclean spirit as a Jezebel spirit? Jezebel was notoriously bad, but so was Ahab, in fact a lot of bad people are mentioned in the Bible. Why specifically refer to an unclean spirit as a "Jezebel spirit"?

An ἀκάθαρτον πνεῦμα is just another way the New Testament talks about demons. The inverse of the holy angels, who by definition would be clean spirits, because they are faithfully pure.

I have not done a study on Jezebel. I think it is sexist to want to do a study on the most evil and wicked women we can find. But this is a major theme in Jonathan Cahn's book. The book does a nice job of explaining paradigms in the Bible. To bad he has go about it in this way. I am not real happy with the political arena where people want to trash each other and tear each other down. Use to be we wanted the best man for the job. Now we want anything but the ones that are running. We can not have what we want but we try to avoid what we don't want.

Any evil spirit is considered unclean. Nice try.
So do you think Jezebel is getting a bad rap? Is that what the issue is here? You do know they fed her to the dogs when she died. That is not my idea of going out in style with honors.

The dogs shall devour Jezebel in the field of Jezreel, with none to bury her” ( 2 Kings 9:10 ).

These are the listed spiritual strongholds in scripture,...

1) A Familiar spirit

2) A spirit of Jealousy

3) The spirit of Whoredom

4) A Lying spirit

5) A Perverse spirit

6) The spirit of Heaviness

7) A Legion of Unclean spirits

8) A Dumb and Deaf spirit

9) A spirit of Infirmity

10) A spirit of Divination

11) The spirit of Bondage

12) A Seducing/Deceiving spirits

13) The spirit of Fear

Jezebel is not listed there because there is no such thing as a Jezebel spirit in scripture.

Nice list you put together there.

  1. Jezebel in the Bible:
    • Queen Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab of Israel.
    • She promoted the worship of Baal and persecuted prophets of Yahweh (1 Kings 18:4).
    • Her actions included false accusations, manipulation, and idolatry.
    • Jezebel’s name has become synonymous with wickedness and spiritual deception.

Jezebel deserves her bad reputation.

But Jezebel was just a woman, a bad person, a notorious villain in the Bible. But still just a woman.

The name of Simon Magus is notorious as well. He is often remembered as the first heretic. According to tradition Simon Magus after being rebuked by the Apostles went on to create his own cult. And an entire wicked practice is named after him, called Simony. He is one of the most notorious people in the New Testament, remembered for his arrogance, delusion, and as the father of all heresy.

But there still isn't a "Simon Magus spirit".

Cahn was calling Hillary Jezebel when she was running for president. Compared to character assassination the use of the word "spirit" does not seem to matter all that much.
