Note that the Department of Education has a lot of good educational standards.
Note that many who follow Trump, are anti-intellectual in their worldview.
This includes Protestant Fundamentalists.
Protestant Fundamentalists often hold to a young earth model, and reject
the conclusions of the modern earth sciences (which emerged in the 1700's
during the European Enlightenment).
Although the Protestant Fundamentalists are correct (from a Christian point
of view), that the endless "toleration" in the moral model of many Americans
allows forms of sin, Fundamentalists do not embrace the INTELLECTUAL
arguments of historic Christian apologetics, to establish the Judea-Christian
moral-ethical (ME) model as the one that underlines the founding documents
of America.
No one who is anti-intellectual, in this way, should be determining educational
standards for anything, in the public school system.
Christians who confuse toleration of almost any ME model, with the rejection of
the hard sciences, do not represent the historic Christian position on the goodness
of the mind. Orthodox Christians hold a much more complicated view of reality.
---------- ----------
The hard sciences are built on Mill's Methods, and a historic understanding of
Epistemology. These are valid.
Orthodox Christianity is built on Epistemology, and Moral Theory, and the concept
of our shared reality, and the following concepts of the building blocks of a fair
rule of law.
Orthodox Christians can address the "toleration of any ME system" as incompatible
with a fair rule of law, and justice. They can do this without rejecting the goodness
of the hard sciences.
The claim of many Trump followers that the Department of Education is completely
worthless, reflects a poorly reasoned argument.
The position of orthodox Christians is that the department of Education can teach
Epistemology, and Moral Theory, and Civics, without teaching the ludicrous position
that every ME model must be tolerated.
