One has to wonder if it is the new Onion.

Taking it at face value the 'definitive' proof that one could own a cannon is just one law article published in May 2024! Since Biden does not have a day job it is totally reasonable that he should spend hours every day searching for articles like that one. [/sarcasm].

It is also worth noting law is often reactive. E.g. a law does not get written until there is a problem. If someone can find evidence of individuals parading their private cannons through town before, during or after the Civil War I'd love to hear about it.
