At rhe nra convention; mid speech for 30 seconds or so

Donald Trump's "glitch" during NRA speech raises questions

a different source had said it was a teleprompter issue but that hasnt been confirmed.
and as IF it's a teleprompter issue. Trump taunts and insults Biden for his use of teleprompter, as do people here on this very website.

So I feel confident that it is not a teleprompter issue. Trump wouldn't lie about that.

And so we're left with a mitch McConnell episode. His first.

Is there other evidence Trump is unfit for presidency?
My initial thought is that either an issue with the teleprompter, or perhaps something on the teleprompter that Trump didn't want to say. He wasn't glitching Mitch style. He was shaking his head as if to communicate that something was wrong with the teleprompter or that he wanted them to scroll past what was on it.

I have no problems with pauses during a speech, sometimes it can be the best part of the speech.

Now if we can get him to make them a little longer. Say an hour or so.

You'd be better off thinking of your own semi satirical comments. It shows a lack of imagination.

Whistler says something witty.
Oscar Wilde: 'I wish I had said that'.
James McNeill Whistler: 'You will, Oscar, you will'.

I'm sure you've also heard the saying "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

“…that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”

That’s the rest of the quote that for some reason, anyone who uses it seems to forget to say.

....at a Las Vegas rally on Sunday. Trump was making some point about electric cars or trucks....

“I say, ‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight, and you’re in the boat, and you have this tremendously powerful battery, and the battery’s now underwater, and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’
“By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately, do you notice that? Lot of sharks. I watched some guys justifying it today: ‘Well they weren’t really that angry, they bit off the young lady’s leg because of the fact that they were not hungry but they misunderstood who she was.’ These people are crazy. He said, ‘There’s no problem with sharks, they just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming.’ No, really got decimated, and other people, too, a lot of shark attacks.
“So I said, ‘There’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards, or here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking? Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted, or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?’ Because I will tell you, he didn’t know the answer.
“He said, ‘You know, nobody’s ever asked me that question.’ I said, ‘I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water.’ But you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark. So we’re going to end that, we’re going to end it for boats, we’re going to end it for trucks.”

My word, what a dope.

First, a boat that is too much weight to not float is not a boat, it is an anchor.

Second, electric boats have been around for a long time. There is even a rather famous boat builder call (formerly) the Electric Boat Company (now part of General Dynamics) that has been around for 125 years:

https://gdeb.com

They make submarines. Why, because *ALL* submarines are electric with electric drive and batteries. Some have a diesel power plant and some have a fission reactor for charging.

So do other types of boats like sail vessels which run a generator and use batteries for storage. If the ship is sinking there are other concerns rather than a shark attack.

I watched it on some Youtube channel. I felt embarrassed. It was just incoherent rambling.

No one cares if a President knows about the mechanics of boats and cars or about sharks.

....so what was he going on about at a poltiical rally? ...he has to pick between dying by electrocution or be eaten by a shark?

Honestly I didn't know that was the rest of the quote. I guess it no longer applies then.

I don't think it's something suffering vexed Americans care much about compared to vital issues.

Considering that submarines are part of the nuclear triad, it would be good for a president to have the most basic information about how submarines work including that they are electric. As a former president, you'd think he'd already learned that boats can be electric, but alas, he insists on demonstrating his ignorance while demonstrating he can't even bluff his way through the gaps in knowledge in a coherent fashion.

This only smacks of trying to project what many say about the other candidate's faculties onto Trump. Which at the very most just means it's an even playing field along those lines.

In the meantime Americans are dealing with things that they're very unhappy about and strongly believe the current President is failing them, despite how much he might know about submarines. I mean I seriously doubt that assuring them he has a better grip on how submarines work is going to comfort them much.

Biden isn't the one who doesn't know how:

- boats work
- batteries work
- sharks work
- water works

That's nowhere on the list of things most Americans are concerned about regarding who's going to be a better President for them.

I think your average voter cares whether their leader can carry on a coherent and relevant speech when the teleprompter fails. Talking about his apparent fear of electrocution and sharks in the middle of a stump speech is hardly re-assuring. It's not even entertaining.

And here's my point: Biden is old...and frequently says things that he did not intend or could be attributed to his age. Trump is old and quite intentionally says things that makes one wonder if is mental faculties are all there.
