Evidently the trial rested on intent., Why he did the non disclosure agreement.
It was considered a campaign contribution because it was to help him get elected. If he did it ti protect his wife, or family it was not a campaign contribution. Millions of NDA'S in NEW YORK, but only this one was a campaign contribution. Go figure.
How he paid that money, to keep it hidden, is where the tax charges became involved. He might have even paid more taxes in the end trying to hide a huge amount of money. That does not matter, it was still falsifying payments of money.

I replied it wasn't close to the same thing, the poster said it was exactly the same thing.

My response:

The complaint was filed by the Coolidge Regan Foundation against Hillary, the DNC, Fusion GPS, Marc Elias, Perkins Coie and Christopher Steele. All the complaints were dismissed except the one for Hillary and her treasurer and the DNC and their treasurer. They basically decided to pay the fine instead of spending more in legal costs to to clear it up.

She hired Perkins, they hired Fusion GPS and Fusion hired Steele. The FEC found there was probable cause she may have violated the rules, that legal expenses was too vague and it should have specially mentioned oppo research since that is what Fusion was doing, even though didn’t hire them directly and they don't usually list payments to subcontractors they dont hire directly. She said she listed everything properly and filed the proper reports. There is nothing to indicate she was trying to HIDE what she was paying the lawyers to do or that there would have been cause to. Oppo research is a standard campaign expense.


What Trump and Cohen did was different, how Cohen was reimbursed was different and tax fraud, as the video I posted explains.

Regardless of what everyone thinks or how they feel about Trump, his rhetoric is becoming more dangerous, imo. He has some very devoted followers who tend to follow what they feel are "marching orders." At today's rally he suggested suicide was preferable to Biden.

I'm hoping this is a one off comment, but if it become a regular occurrence that is repeated, it could lead to people acting upon it. I can't find the article right now, but there was at least one person who killed themselves and their family after Biden won in 2020. This is not how politics are supposed to play out. I may not agree with his supporters, but I dont want to see them kill themselves. I'm hoping he doesn't get the bright idea to suggest hurting dems to stop them from voting. Be careful out there.

Yes, he did, so did stormy. That was what Costello testified to. That is why Trump was not Charged years ago. The FBI, said Cohen was unreliable as a witness. Costello, testified that Cohen told him, he paid that all on his own, to keep Milania and the family from finding out...

The non disclosure agreement was to prevent the public from finding out and hurting him in the election. There was no other reason to pay hush money for an incident over 10 years old right before the election, if not for the election. Evidence and witnesses were presented that Trump knew and that his family was not his primary concern. In fact, there was witness testimony that they were going to string Stormy along until just after the election but she was speaking with a news oulet besides AMI. They had handwritten notes of the repayment scheme to avoid taxes for Cohen and the signed checks paying him.
