  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god:
for the Lord, whose name is Zealous, is a passionate God:

[H7067] qanna-literally reddened, passionate, jealous, zeal

Phineas, the son of Aaron, received a covenant of peace from the Lord

for being zealous for His Name.

Numbers 25:

11 Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back My wrath
from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them,
so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal.
12 Therefore say, Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace;
13 And it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood,
because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.

Time and again, the Lord restored Israel for His Name Sake

Ezekiel 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob,
and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name.

The Lord has expressed hatred of Edom for their response to the fall of Jerusalem.

Many other neighboring nations earned the same anger and retribution.

Zechariah 1:

14 So the angel who spoke with me said to me, Proclaim, and say,
Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am zealous for Jerusalem and for
Zion with great zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry, and they helped—with evil.

Joshua required the children of Israel to make a final decision to serve the Lord,
with a final warning they would fail.

Joshua 24:
19 But Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God.
He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

The Scriptures use Love to describe the Lord's passion in favor of the humble.
The word hate is used to describe His passion against the proud.
This should not prove difficult.

Deuteronomy 4:24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

We are instructed to be like Phineas and be zealous for good
and have a passion for His Name.

Galatians 4:18 But it is always good to be zealous for a good thing…

Reminds me of a Christian song I heard in 2021.
