  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"In a sign of the Trump orbit’s urgent need for cash, at least two donors who made seven-figure pledges to support Mr. Trump this year were nudged to see if they could cut an eight-figure check — meaning $10 million or more — instead, according to a person familiar with the request."

--
That's an interesting contrast. Biden is getting huge grassroots support from many donors. Trump is chasing after millionaires to dig deeper.

Trump tells billionaires he’ll keep their taxes low at $50 million fundraising gala

Former President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of extending his signature tax cuts to some of the nation’s wealthiest political donors, according to a readout of his private remarks Saturday night provided by a Trump campaign official.

Trump makes sweeping promises to donors on audacious fundraising tour

By tying donation requests to pledges of tax cuts and other policies, Trump is testing the boundaries of federal campaign finance laws.

“I’m not having lunch [with a donor who gave $1 million],” Trump said he responded, according to donors who attended. “You’ve got to make it $25 million.”

Another businessman, he said, had traditionally given $2 million to $3 million to Republicans. Instead, he said he told the donor that he wanted a $25 million or $50 million contribution or he would not be “very happy.”

Trump has met with an assortment of real estate, legal, finance, oil and other business executives in recent months, according to people familiar with invitation lists.

By frequently tying the fundraising requests within seconds of promises of tax cuts, oil project infrastructure approvals and other favorable policies and asking for sums more than his campaign and the GOP can legally accept from an individual, Trump is also testing the boundaries of federal campaign finance laws, according to legal experts.

The former president was once reluctant to call donors and decried the role of big money in politics. Part of his opposition to making calls was that he liked the perception that he was an outsider who was going to “drain the swamp.”

“I will say this — [the] people [who] control special interests, lobbyists, donors, they make large contributions to politicians and they have total control over those politicians,” Trump said during a 2016 debate. “And frankly, I know the system better than anybody else, and I’m the only one up here that’s going to be able to fix that system, because that system is wrong.”

[So much for that.]

At the fundraiser, he promised to cut taxes on corporations and give oil executives an array of policies they wanted and said he was being outraised by the Democrats and the unions, asking the crowd to “be generous, please.”

“So give me some of your money,” he said, drawing laughs. “True. I’m begging for your money.”

I'd love to hear a TrumpFan explain how this constitutes "draining the swamp."

Oh, 'draining the swamp' is so 2016. Trump is full of fresh new ideas like replacing Obamacare and infrastructure week.

Not fundraising, per se (I think)

Trump sells $10 million jet to MAGA megadonor

The Daily Beast reported Monday that MAGA megadonor Mehrdad Moayedi has purchased the former president's $10 million jet.
Per the news outlet, "Federal Aviation Administration records show that on May 13, the aircraft’s registration changed from the Trump Organization’s DT Air Corp to a Texas entity called MM Fleet Holdings LLC. State records tie that company to Mehrdad Moayedi, an Iranian-American construction and development tycoon who lives near Dallas and runs Centurion American Custom Homes."

On the plus side for Trump fundraising, the reaction to the guilty verdict brought so much traffic to WinRed that the site broke.
On the minus side, it was broke long enough to have potentially missed out on $1 million in donations (if people didn't try again later).

LisaDesjardins (X): Am told that the heavy interest and site crash cost Trump am [sic] estimated $500k - $1m in lost donations bc the intensity was so high.

Man, they're going to tank their site again, but only because of all the outgoing emails.

My poor Yahoo mailbox is swollen with Trump asking for money.

Trump campaign warns GOP candidatesnot to fundraise off Trump’s conviction

“Any Republican elected official, candidate or party committee siphoning money from President Trump’s donors are no better than Judge Merchan’s daughter,” said Trump co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita. “We’re keeping a list, we’ll be checking it twice and we aren’t in the spirit of Christmas.”

The other side of funding is spending.

Mystery fundraising firm takes in millions from the Trump campaign

The campaign says it has fulfilled its legal reporting obligation, though the spending appears to mirror past attempts to mask who is actually receiving donor cash.

The money has been paid to Launchpad Strategies LLC, a company that appears to have been incorporated in Delaware in November, according to state business records and lists a Raleigh, North Carolina, post office box as its address in campaign finance filings. ... state officials in North Carolina confirmed to NBC News last week that no company by that name is registered in the state.

“It’s concerning to see a company formed just six months ago suddenly receive over $3.1 million from Donald Trump’s network of political committees, particularly since there is virtually no public information about this company,” said Saurav Ghosh, the Campaign Legal Center's director of federal campaign finance reform. “Who works there, what services they offer or have provided and whether Trump’s payments to ‘Launchpad Strategies LLC’ are for bona fide services or are, instead, actually payments to other vendors funneled through a mere corporate shell.”

The Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission after the 2020 election cycle alleging that Trump’s campaign ran more than $500 million through a firm called American Made Media Consultants, which it argued appeared to be a shell company designed to obscure exactly whom the campaign was paying.

The FEC deadlocked, and the complaint was dismissed.

Trump campaign starts taking cryptocurrency donations, vows to build a ‘crypto army’

The Trump campaign announced Tuesday it will start accepting cryptocurrency donations, casting the move as one of solidarity with opponents of “socialistic government control” over the U.S. financial markets.

Billionaire Winklevoss twins donate $1m each to Trump as champion of cryptocurrency

The Winklevoss brothers are each worth $2.7bn, according to Forbes. They have been grappling with a crypto crackdown, amid the wider fallout from the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX exchange.

Tyler Winklevoss also posted a lengthy critique of Joe Biden’s policies on crypto. “It’s time to take our country back,” he declared. “It’s time for the crypto army to send a message to Washington. That attacking us is political suicide.”

C'mon America, let's stick it to the elites and help these billionaire techbros make more money!

I put "Trump vs. Biden fundraising" into Braves search engine the AI says the following:

In recent months, the fundraising efforts of Donald Trump and Joe Biden have been compared and contrasted. Here are some key points to note:

Recent Fundraising Totals

In May, Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee raised $141 million, while Biden’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $85 million.
This marks the second consecutive month that Trump has outraised Biden, following a $76 million to $51 million gap in April.

Cash on Hand

Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee have a combined cash on hand of over $172 million, while Biden’s campaign has just under $157 million.
This suggests that Trump’s fundraising efforts have helped to close the gap between the two campaigns.

Fundraising Strategies

Trump’s campaign has been capitalizing on his recent criminal conviction, using ads to characterize him as a “political prisoner” and the trial as “rigged.”
Biden’s campaign has also used the conviction in fundraising efforts, calling Trump a convicted felon in recent TV ads and at his most recent fundraiser.

Donor Base

Trump’s campaign has seen a surge in small-dollar donations, with 485,000 people contributing to the campaign in May.
29.7% of these donors were first-time contributors to WinRed, the GOP’s preferred fundraising platform.
Impact on the Election

The fundraising gap between the two campaigns is significant, and could impact the outcome of the election.
The next debate, scheduled for next week in Atlanta, will be an important opportunity for both candidates to make their case to voters.
Conclusion

In summary, Trump’s fundraising efforts have overtaken Biden’s in recent months, with a significant gap in cash on hand. The impact of this gap on the election remains to be seen, but it is clear that Trump’s campaign is gaining momentum.

(Now don't start bashing me, I was just trying to get the facts.)

Biden campaign says it raised $264 million in second quarter

The campaign said it will report $240 million cash on hand, an increase from the $212 million it claimed last month.

President Biden’s reelection campaign announced it raised $264 million in the second quarter, powered by $127 million in June, a significant sum of money officials are eager to tout as they work to reassure anxious Democrats about the president’s path forward.

[Obvs, most of that was taken in before the debate, but] the campaign has aggressively touted its fundraising success since the debate as part of its effort to temper anxieties, saying it raised $38 million in the four days since the faceoff in Atlanta. Officials said Thursday was their best grass-roots fundraising day of the campaign, and Friday was the second-best day.

The Trump campaign has not yet reported its second-quarter numbers, and the full picture of the financial strength of each campaign’s effort will not be clear until July 15, when their allied committees are required to file reports. But after Biden opened a wide financial advantage over Trump in the early months of the campaign, the former president closed the gap significantly in May.

Last month, the main Trump campaign committee and the Republican National Committee reported raising over $106 million, surpassing the main Biden committee and the Democratic National Committee’s combined total of $60 million, according to reports filed last month.

[This does not include allied PACs]

With $310 million, Harris raised more than twice as much as Trump in July

The vice president and her allies raised $310 million; Trump and his supporters raised $139 million, according to reports by both campaigns.

Both candidates and affiliated party committees have been furiously raising money for some time, so their respective cash-on-hand difference is not as stark. Harris reported $377 million in the bank, while Trump reported $327 million.

Kamala Harris has raised nearly $500 million in the past month

Vice President Kamala Harris has raised nearly $500 million for her White House bid in the month since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris as his replacement, NBC News reported Tuesday.

Democrats expect that number to balloon to roughly $600 million by the end of August, one of those sources added.
