"Overeager staffer" posts video to Trump's personal Truth Social account predicting “the creation of a unified Reich”
A video posted to Donald Trump’s social media platform featured references to “the creation of a unified Reich” along with hypothetical news headlines should the former president win the election in 2024.

In the 30-second video posted Monday, which was deleted from his Truth Social account Tuesday morning, mock-up headlines and newspaper clippings envisioned media coverage after a potential Trump victory.

Under a black-and-white photo of Trump, one all-caps headline states: “What’s next for America?” with text underneath that reads: “Strength significantly increased by the creation of a unified Reich.”

The video appears to feature parts of a sentence referring to a “unified Reich” three times alongside text saying Trump “puts America first” or “Law & order restored.”

In a statement, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said the video was not produced by the campaign and that it was posted while Trump was in court in New York on Monday for his ongoing hush money trial. The video, she said, “was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word.”

ETA:
Posters have indicated the juxtaposition may be incidental. Without more info on the creator/creation of the video, I may just have to Emily Litella this one.

I don't really care to be in the position of defending Trump, but that's a bit of stock footage that somebody probably grabbed from a library somewhere. It can be seen in these videos as well:

The fact that some people believed it was real shows that the sentiments expressed run pretty close to Mr. Trump's platform.
But obviously they don't want a spoiler alert--it would spoil their election dreams.

This is my take as well. It's just in a headline in the background specifically talking about WWII and Hitler's aims and what not. To say that whoever made the video was aiming to have that be a message I think is a really big leap. Quite frankly I'm surprised major outlets are running this story this way. I could see some smaller outlets running it that way, but ABC, AP? Uncharacteristic, IMO.

TBF, I haven't seen the actual ad (can't watch most videos on my work PC), just the stock footage they used. So, I don't know what the ad itself is about or how it presents things.

Yeah, it's a non-issue. The ad is just a sequence of "headlines" stating what Trump plans to accomplish. There's background text from other articles that were in the stock footage used (including the story about the Reich), but they're clearly not the focus of the ad.

But it is still Trump's fault - right?

of course it is.

My OP correctly identifies who posted it, and includes the statement you were just quoting.

Nobody has blamed Trump for this.

curious - why did you choose not to include the link for the video?

Which would you not want in America?

  • An economic boon
  • Prosperity
  • Border closed
  • 15 million illegals deported
  • Peach through strength
  • Law and order
  • The American Dream
Which of those is abhorrent to you?

I'll just stick to the Lincoln Project ad:

Really?

The Lincoln Project, the anti-Donald Trump political outfit, imploded Friday evening amid mounting criticism of its handling of sexual misconduct allegations against one of its co-founders and of the management of its finances.
Steve Schmidt, a prominent political strategist and one of the original co-founders of the organization, on Friday evening became the latest in a string of departures from the group. In a lengthy statement, Schmidt said he was “incandescently angry” about allegations that former Lincoln Project leader John Weaver sent sexually explicit text messages to young men.
“I detest John Weaver in a way I can’t articulate,” wrote Schmidt, who in the statement divulged his own experiences of being molested when he was young. “My heart breaks that young men felt unseen and unheard in an organization that I started. I am ashamed of it.”

Did you even try to understand the point of that post before commenting on it?

The topic of discussion is an image seen in the background of the video. He showed a bunch of screenshots to illustrate that while the visual theme of the ad was old newspapers, the focus was on the headlines in the center and any article titles on the periphery were ancillary.

Yeah, much ado about nothing and feigned offense once again. It has been happening since Trump came down the escalator

Care you answer my questions now?

If someone takes the time to post screen shots. They can certainly post a link. Don’t ya think?

You realize that several of us in this thread agree with that, don't you?

and feigned offense once again.

On whose part? @RocksInMyHead? He opened his post by saying that the headline in the video is a "non-issue."

He could have, sure. But it's also not necessary to make his point. If you're so hung up about it, why don't you find it and link to it?

The fact that some people believed it was real shows that some people will believe just about anything they see on the Internet without exhibiting a shred of critical thinking.
Critical thinking includes evaluating the media in the context of the character (or lack thereof) and behavior of the person portrayed.

Tragically, the video was entirely consistent with our experience of the person portrayed.

Those who lacked critical thinking immediately dismissed it because, with absolutely no corroborating evidence, they think the man portrayed is their champion.

Because the person I was replying to said that he couldn't watch the video and was curious about the rest of what was in it.

I'm not sure what this has to do with my post. I said nothing negative about the ad (in fact, I think it's a pretty solid ad that appeals well to Trump's target audience). What I said is that the complaints about the inclusion of the "Reich" headline were a non-issue. A nothingburger. Much ado about nothing. Maybe take a minute to read posts before going on the attack?
