The point is SOMEONE has to take it....or what happens? People will not want to work anymore. Someone has to suffer through it. Just because it's not you doesn't mean it should then be justifiable.
Someone WILL take it. No one has to. My first job when I left law enforcement was minimum wage. After 3 months I told them I couldn’t do it anymore. They put me on salary making more than I did in law enforcement and made me assistant manager. Not much later I was manager.
No one HAS to take it. Someone agrees to.

You don’t have to take it. You have the option of working somewhere else, working more than one job, or getting educated or developing the skills necessary to get a higher paying job.
That's true, in theory. But, in theory, that still not a free market and it is misrepresentation to call it so.

I honestly don't even know what your position is anymore

There's no straight line from that situation to stupid people.
My position is that there are people who are not qualified to be parents having children every day and there’s not much anyone can do about it but the government rewards this behavior and makes it sustainable.
It creates a continuous cycle of dependency and that seems to be the goal of a certain political party.
My wife is a fourth grade teacher and her students tell her that they will not have to work if they don’t want to, they can get a check.

Given the ideas about the nature of work as proposed in this forum, one can hardly bame them.

They have the potential to be and do so much more if they just had some help and some positive role models. My wife complains about the stench of marijuana on their clothing and book bags.

And some real challenges. But the purpose of school is to train them to be dutiful employees with minimum skills.

Well they fail at that. School is teaching them that there’s no real consequences for bad behavior and all they have to do is show up most of the time.

I'm glad that worked out well for you. The last time I went to my boss and told them that I was underpaid and under-resourced and that I couldn't do it anymore, they fired me.

Again, survivorship bias.

It was great until they decided to close that warehouse. I got by for over a month after they closed cutting meat in a grocery store and pressure washing until I landed head of security at a hospital.

Was there never anything that you really wanted to do?

I loved surveying but it would have taken too long to get to where I was earning a good living. I had a child on the way and needed insurance. I loved being a Youth Minister but I got too involved with my job on the Drug Task Force and didn’t have the time to do both anymore. I loved pressure washing and having my own business. I loved law enforcement but corruption and other circumstances made me leave and I love my job now. I’ve never really had to do anything that I didn’t want to do. I tried selling insurance one time and didn’t like that but fortunately they were glad to take me back at the job I had left.

That's not an option for all servers.
Well, there are other careers as explained earlier.
On what basis do you think all these people are eating out?
They tell me.
When it comes to managing finances, you're correct. But when it comes to listening to the struggles of the lower classes in North America, I have a better idea than some it seems.
You seem to think you do.
And by the time they're at 65 they'll need 3million to retire so moot point.
I guess the Canadian dollar must have declined, because that's not remotely true in the US.
There's plenty of renters in America that have seen their rent increase by 200+. So that 50$ is long gone.
I guess they need a roommate.
I am quite curious how you think most folks are spending their money and what those same people have for income.
Let's just say I'm in a position to know how lots of people spend their money, and most of the time it's not pretty.

Not how little they have, how much they have and for many it’s a trap , living on government assistance and voting for who promises to give the most and never reaching their potential
Here's where we may disagree. I think the number of people living on welfare is probably trivial, but am open to discussion. But the number of people who make decent money and blow it on drugs, booze, cigarettes, fast food, Door Dash, lottery tickets, manicures, shopping sprees, overpriced vehicles, etc, is depressing.

It's hard for me not to curse when I see people living in the richest country the world has ever known; with a level of income desparity that goes into a perversion say to the poor in their own country "You're not poor. Go to a poor country to see poverty". Stop you're complaining because everything is your fault.
I guess you'll need to define "poor" here.
Seems....what's the word...uncharacteristic of you to think that anecdotal experience carries more weight than data.
It's more than anecdotal, but I'm not going into details there.
Of my nephews that have gone to school, they have struggled to find "well paying" jobs (though their degrees were pragmatic [BSc and BComm). Though a decade ago those jobs at those pirates would have been very acceptable, now those nephews have partners and scratch along in an apartment.
I thought pirates made good money?

#7. I get a check for my baby and additional money for each one I have. I use the emergency room as a Doctor’s office and I get WIC, SNAP and section 8 housing. If my children do poorly in school, I can have them tested and get more checks for that.
I hope there aren't too many examples like that.
