The above statement is obviously cognitively dissonant: claiming to agree and then expressly disagreeing.I agree with @KCfromNC which is why I stated that murder has been a crime in every society regardless of the theology or lack there of
Haha so you can freeze them..... just not too much. One is not allowed to freeze any children to death.
I would suggest more careful reading, but I have my doubts it would help. The above statement is obviously cognitively dissonant: claiming to agree and then expressly disagreeing.
Have you read the U.S. Constitution lately? "... they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life ..."The laws of the US are not based on theology ...
I'm not sure that concerns over the manipulation of human life at its beginnings necessarily derive from theology either.I would suggest more careful reading, but I have my doubts it would help.
Murder is not a theologically based crime. Period. It does not derive from theology.
Yeah they believed in a creator. Then they went on to make sure wed have a secular govt. I dont see the contradiction there.Have you read the U.S. Constitution lately? "... they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life ..."
Keep trying.I would suggest more careful reading, but I have my doubts it would help.
Yes, but you need not tell me; tell @KCfromNC.Murder is not a theologically based crime. Period. It does not derive from theology.
This is from the DOI (which is decidedly not the Constitution).Have you read the U.S. Constitution lately? "... they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life ..."
Birthday = unfrozen day? What happens if, (in an IVF clinic in Alabama), a frozen embryo is kept frozen for 30 years…can the resultant human being retire at 40 years of age?
They believed in the Creator (capital "C"). Look up the Latin definition of "Theo". So. their subsequent work is based on the same self-evident truth as expressed in the Declaration of Independence.Yeah they believed in a creator. Then they went on to make sure wed have a secular govt. I dont see the contradiction there.
I still dont see the contradiction between finding that humans are divinely created, and then going on to decide that a secular govt would serve them bestThey believed in the Creator (capital "C"). That's fine. The issue debated was whether the crime of murder is theologically based crime or secular.I still dont see the contradiction between finding that humans are divinely created, and then going on to decide that a secular govt would serve them best
Ah. Well it seem to me to be based in something natural to humans thats independent of any theology they might hold. That's fine. The issue debated was whether the crime of murder is theologically based crime or secular.

I mean, atheists are no more tolerant of being randomly killed than Christians, or pagans.
Right. And where did it come from, if it has been part of every society back to the beginning? Maybe someone told Noah, when he came off the ark, that murder needs to be dealt with, and why:Murder is a crime in every society regardless of that societies religious foundations or lack there of and has been since long before Moses climbed that mountain.
Who is "we"?"Thou shalt not murder" is a useless command anyway. It just means that one should not commit unlawful killing. I.e., Thou shalt kill only those we tell you to kill. Or, you are allowed to kill only those we allow you to kill.
