I agree with @KCfromNC which is why I stated that murder has been a crime in every society regardless of the theology or lack there of
The above statement is obviously cognitively dissonant: claiming to agree and then expressly disagreeing.

I would suggest more careful reading, but I have my doubts it would help.

Murder is not a theologically based crime. Period. It does not derive from theology.

I'm not sure that concerns over the manipulation of human life at its beginnings necessarily derive from theology either.

Have you read the U.S. Constitution lately? "... they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life ..."
Yeah they believed in a creator. Then they went on to make sure wed have a secular govt. I dont see the contradiction there.

This is from the DOI (which is decidedly not the Constitution).

They believed in the Creator (capital "C"). Look up the Latin definition of "Theo". So. their subsequent work is based on the same self-evident truth as expressed in the Declaration of Independence.

I still dont see the contradiction between finding that humans are divinely created, and then going on to decide that a secular govt would serve them best

That's fine. The issue debated was whether the crime of murder is theologically based crime or secular.

Ah. Well it seem to me to be based in something natural to humans thats independent of any theology they might hold.

I mean, atheists are no more tolerant of being randomly killed than Christians, or pagans.

I think pretty much every society agrees that murder is a problem. However, not all societies have extended that to children. Infanticide was completely normalized in the ancient pagan world, for instance.

According to scripture, it is the woman that conceives a child. This necessarily means that a blastocyst must form and then embed itself in the uterus wall for a woman to become pregnant, otherwise she has not conceived a child if a blastocyst is rejected.

Murder is a crime in every society regardless of that societies religious foundations or lack there of and has been since long before Moses climbed that mountain.
Right. And where did it come from, if it has been part of every society back to the beginning? Maybe someone told Noah, when he came off the ark, that murder needs to be dealt with, and why:
[Gen 9:6 KJV] Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

So, if man is made in the image of God, and that's why you can't murder a man (including women and children), isn't that why you can't murder any human being, including those who haven't yet reached full maturity?

Seems like you just affirmed that Alabama is heading in the right direction!

"Thou shalt not murder" is a useless command anyway. It just means that one should not commit unlawful killing. I.e., Thou shalt kill only those we tell you to kill. Or, you are allowed to kill only those we allow you to kill.
Who is "we"?
