Show me when Trump was tried and convicted of insurrection against the US government? Where and when did that happen?
Exactly. This is what this thread is for! He has not been tried and and "found guity" . The headline is the purpose of the thread. Hopefully this time the supreme court will take this up quickly, so the drumbeat of Trump found guilty does not get pounded into peoples heads before the truth comes out. It is the usual lib MO

Electors are not candidates
Actually yes they are. We don't vote for the President. We vote for electors who promise they will vote for a particular person for President.
IF a State can decide who the candidates are then people could be excluded for disability or age and even more egregious reasons, such as religion.
States are not allowed to create new qualifications for federal office. But they are allowed to determine if a candidate meets the existing ones. That's all this is.

You know I have been an American citizen, born and raised.
This is the first time I have been hesitant to speak my mind.
It seems that saying "there is election fraud" is crime.
Are the Federal police going to come knocking down my door and dragging me off to prison for years for "insurrection?"
I don't like it. Think about it. Would you be comfortable standing up and saying "There is election fraud?"
Perhaps I am overreacting but if talking about election fraud is insurrection then
What has this country come to? A political candidate, I have never seen anyone hounded like Trump. Hated harassed and hounded. You would think he was the worlds worst criminal. This entire last 3 years stink and it is getting worse.
Those people saying, "Save our Democracy!" There isn't any democracy when the thought crosses my mind that I have to be careful of my speech or actions due to the threat of being hauled off by the Feds for insurrection or whatever they are using against Trump or anyone they suppose is a Trump supporter.
That is my honest feelings. Take it or leave it!

You’ll probably be called an election denier or a conspiracy theorist and be careful what you post on social media because you could lose your job but you probably won’t be arrested unless you speak up at a school board meeting or take a selfie in the capital

Since when?
Are the Federal police going to come knocking down my door and dragging me off to prison for years for "insurrection?"
Did you commit insurrection?
I don't like it. Think about it. Would you be comfortable standing up and saying "There is election fraud?"
Of course. Who wouldn't be, if it's true?
Perhaps I am overreacting but if talking about election fraud is insurrection then
What has this country come to?
Since when is talking about election fraud considered insurrection?
A political candidate, I have never seen anyone hounded like Trump. Hated harassed and hounded. You would think he was the worlds worst criminal.
Not the world's worst, but definitely a criminal.
Those people saying, "Save our Democracy!"
What about those people?
There isn't any democracy when the thought crosses my mind that I have to be careful of my speech or actions due to the threat of being hauled off by the Feds for insurrection or whatever they are using against Trump or anyone they suppose is a Trump supporter.
If you don't commit insurrection, you won't be hauled off for insurrection. What's hard to understand about that?

So far neither scenario has happened in real life.
I guess you didn’t see the man whose daughter was raped by a transgender teen in a school bathroom slammed to the ground and handcuffed and as to the other you’re wrong about that too

I long for the days when Republicans dressed nicely and spoke in coherent sentences. Were they looked like they came from nice neighborhoods or even mansions. When they had ideas and plans, when they would pass legislation and even worked with the other side to do so. When there were real and realistic campaign promises, not that they would keep them, but they were believable.

Today’s Republican Party has no ideas (Health Care anyone?), no believable promises (Mexico is going to pay for what?), runs Democrats because they have no one in their own party who can beat a Democrat (Trump and the Israeli going for Santo’s old seat), and some of them dress like they get their cloths at the trailer park yard sale. Instead of legislation, we introduce porn pictures from our opponent’s son, we talk about Jewish Space Lasers, lizard shape shifters, demonic portals above the white House, bamboo fibers, thermostats changing votes, undercover FBI, BLM and ANTIFA members attacking the Capitol, but we have to blur the faces to protect their identity.

They wanted crazy, well we got crazy, but the whole country suffers because some wanted to turn our country into a big Tail Gate Party but there isn’t any game.

This will probably get dropped from the lack of any insurrection conviction.

Yes, the judge issued an opinion that Trump participated in insurrection...without any due process or opportunity to defend himself.

You may noticed a recent thread discussing the possibility of insurrection charges....which I thought would sew up the rest of the charges. People disagreed, saying insurrection charges weren't necessary.

I think the Colorado Supreme Court mentioned their reluctance to remove him was due to the lack of a criminal conviction tantamount to insurrection so....

I think anyone debating whether or not the rule applies to the president is chasing the false trail. This applies to the president. Insurrection? Not something a judge can decide without any due process.

Uh huh.

Were they looked like they came from nice neighborhoods or even mansions.

*Where* Tell it to John Fetterman.

When they had ideas and plans, when they would pass legislation and even worked with the other side to do so.

Pre-Bush Jr?

When there were real and realistic campaign promises, not that they would keep them, but they were believable.

I'll be honest, seeing them overturn Roe after all this time was impressive.

Today’s Republican Party has no ideas (Health Care anyone?), no believable promises (Mexico is going to pay for what?),

Today's Democrats are racists, obsess about inconsequential garbage like gender, while robbing the middle class blind. Under them, we're reintroducing segregated schools and child labor.

runs Democrats because they have no one in their own party who can beat a Democrat (Trump and the Israeli going for Santo’s old seat),

Not sure what you mean by this...sure, Democrats keep defecting to the Republicans, but it's more out of the dysfunction on the left.

and some of them dress like they get their cloths at the trailer park yard sale.

Apparently that's where Biden goes when he wanders off stage mid-speech....to a yard sale.

Instead of legislation, we introduce inappropriate content pictures from our opponent’ssake.

Uh huh.

we talk about Jewish Space Lasers,

Lots has been said of Jewish Space Lasers.

It's lost some of its humor since the left started chasing Jewish people around campuses because they support a new Holocaust.

lizard shape shifters,

UFOs.

demonic portals above the white House,

Havana Syndrome.

bamboo fibers, thermostats changing votes, undercover FBI, BLM and ANTIFA members attacking the Capitol, but we have to blur the faces to protect their identity.

Wray can end those rumors any time he likes by spilling how many assets the FBI had in attendance.

Running on "I'm not the other guy" is only effective when you actually do better than the other guy.

That's a very low bar to cross...yet Joe somehow failed. To be fair, he has spent a lot of time on vacation.

Yes

Congress didn't do that

Remove gender and nothing has changed from the "old" Democratic Party

Not sure what you mean by this...sure, Democrats keep defecting to the Republicans, but it's more out of the dysfunction on the left.

Or perhaps it has something to do with something Trump himself said. Run as a Republican and you will win.

Apparently that's where Biden goes when he wanders off stage mid-speech....to a yard sale.

Not part of the Secret Service and don't care where Biden wanders off to.

That wasn't a photo of Hunter's junk? My Bad.

Yes, thankfully Hamas has made everyone forget Unite the Right.

Good Answer.
Havana Syndrome.
Actually Roger Stone

Wray can end those rumors any time he likes by spilling how many assets the FBI had in attendance.

Or the Right can actually show the mountains of evidence that every Court rejected due to lack of evidence...

Joe may have failed, but then, who is the President?

EDIT: My response starts here. Quotes broke. Ah, got them fixed

Are you taking here about the appeals court or the initial court case? Because you'd be lying here, Trump most definitely was able to defend himself, present the facts in that case and have his lawyers making his case. That's where the whole "he factually engaged in insurrection, but it doesn't disqualify him" came. Trying to paint that process as a kangaroo court isn't anything but partisan bull. There was due process, you just don't like the end results so cry foul.

If Trump wins the presidency, he will break the world. A least the kind of world in which freedom is secured and world stability ensured by the dominant US-Europe alliance.

Maybe excluding Trump from the ballot could stop his nomination if enough states followed suit. But more likely this will just mobilize Republicans against City Hall. Trump becomes the bad-boy hero and wins because he is not Washington in that scenario.

It is also possible that Democrats want Trump to win the Republican nomination because he is so polarizing that he would get the Democrat vote out and be easier to defeat than Haley or De Santis for example in an actual election. By that time he will be a convicted felon, may well be bankrupt and in jail. The optics won't look that good for him.

Trump has not been convicted of inciting any kind of "insurrection". He has been charged with three conspiracy counts, but that case is far from over. And then we have this

the Colorado move is completely partisan and misguided --they invite riots or worse if they think they can keep people they don't like off presidential ballots, and deprive their citizens of political representation. SCOTUS will shoot this down
Exactly! An anti-democratic move in the name of democracy. Apparently, now the LT. Gov of California is calling for state to explore every legal option to remove Trump from the 2024 ballot. The Democrats desperation to remain in power has no bounds.
