"The US intelligence community assesses that there likely were between 100 to 300 people killed in the blast at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, and there was “only light structural damage at the hospital,” according to an unclassified intelligence assessment obtained by CNN that adds more detail to the initial assessment released Wednesday finding Israel was not responsible for the strike.

The US intelligence community also estimates the number of deaths from the hospital at the “low end of the 100-to-300 spectrum,” according to the assessment, a lower number than figures initially cited by Hamas of more than 500."

Based on the information above and using an injury-to-death ratio of 3:1 based on data from explosions and bombings that occurred between 2015 and 2020 resulting in 100 or more deaths, that would put the total number of casualties somewhere between 400 and 1200.
Okay I can’t follow your reasoning. Are the US Intelligence officials wrong?

The number of casualties at the hospital parking lot is now estimated to be about 100. I saw on this forum first 1,000 and then 500.

I could have gotten 100,000 blessings from @JosephZ. :p

...Just kidding, Joe. It's good news though, right?

No. They said there were between 100 and 300 killed. That's where the estimate for the total number of casualties came from.

Am I the only one who simply cannot believe how much the world has changed in the last 13 days?

I never saw this coming three weeks ago. I never saw an event like this where the world changed on a dime. I was in high school during 9/11 so I guess that was comparable, but I was a teenager.

Incidents involving US troops in Iraq, Syria and Yemen:

U.S. forces in the Middle East have come under threat by attack drones at least five times in three days and on Thursday intercepted numerous weapons launched by militants in Yemen, the Pentagon said, a new development amid fears that the war between Israel and Hamas could engulf the surrounding region.

The incidents have involved U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria and aboard a Navy destroyer in the Red Sea, said Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman. Speaking at a news conference, he said the spate of action entailed three attack drones targeting U.S. military positions in Iraq on Tuesday, two drones zeroing in on a garrison in Syria on Wednesday, and the downing by personnel on the USS Carney of cruise missiles and drones launched by Iranian-backed fighters, possibly aimed at Israel.

An update on the church.

church.jpg

The historic Church of St. Porphyrius, Gaza’s oldest active church, was struck Thursday as it sheltered hundreds of Palestinians displaced by the war, according to religious officials.

At least 16 Christians were killed in the bombing and unknown number injured, the Gaza-based Palestinian Ministry of Health said Friday.

The Israel Defense Forces said in an emailed statement that a strike targeting a Hamas control center “damaged the wall of a church in the area” and that it is “aware of reports on casualties” and is reviewing the incident.

Ibrahim Jahshan, a deacon at the church, told The Post that several hundred displaced Christians had taken refuge on the grounds. Rescuers were still digging through the rubble early Friday, but Jahshan said the strike killed nine people and wounded more than a dozen.

I have no idea why people are hanging around in a war zone. That Church building is in Northern Gaza, and everyone knows that's not the place to be.
There's nowhere to go. The south isn't safe either.

Palestinians who fled Gaza city with promises of safety in the south say they are returning home amid a massive Israeli bombardment in recent days.

"I came back to my house in Gaza because if I want to die, let me die in my home," Um Asad Al Shamali, 40, told The National.

"Danger is everywhere. The Israeli shelling doesn't differentiate between areas."

Bombs have fallen on the southern city of Khan Younis and on the Rafah border town, where tens of thousands have fled.

Many now have nowhere to go in one of the world's most densely populated areas.

Essential services such as water, electricity and even supplies of food have rapidly crumbled, or been cut off as Israel intensified a 16-year blockade of the enclave.

Nedaa Khader, 43, fled to Nussirat camp in the south. She wants to go back home to Gaza but is afraid the roads are not safe.

"Yesterday the Israeli warplanes targeted the bakery shop we used to buy the bread from. Nothing is safe, everything is targeted." she told The National.

I'm pretty sure that if a rocket is fired from Southern Gaza, Israel is going to fire back at that location. Key point, is that Hamas is responsible for all these deaths.

...Hamas needs to give up the fight, and surrender. Immediately.

I guess youre right, in that it's not the fault of the people.

...The fault lies with Hamas, for their continued rocket firing from so many locations, both north and south.

Hamas should surrender immediately, and stockpile all their weapons in locations where the Israeli army could collect them, and stop resisting. This would end the war, and all the bloodshed. Countess lives could be spared.

...The international community should be pressing for just that.

That's absolutely correct. People pay for the mistakes of their governors. Hamas was voted in and the people voted for them. Just like they voted for Hitler. When the people you chose to govern you decide to attack the nation next to you the people will also pay for that mistake. If you don't want your people to die then don't attack another nation and cut the heads off their babies.

Just imagine if the Mexican government kept launching missiles into California. Then one day attacked California burning people alive, cutting heads of their babies and burning the babies alive.

And we attack Mexico. And civilians died. Who's fault is it? Mexico's or the US? Who chose the governors of Mexico? The people. Who needs to do something for people not to die? The Mexican government. Complete surrender and the dying stops.

This is Hamas fault but they operated under the authority of the people. And if they really cared about their people they would stop and surrender. But as I said before they didn't care about their people. They are all about the worship death And blood.

They are the worst kind of human beings. And if the Palestinians want this to stop they should be surrendering the the Israelis and showing the Israelis where Hamas is and helping them destroy them.

But here is another thing. If they do help you know who will come after them? Other Arabs. This is how bad this is. This is how bad the Arabs are over there.

Note that "casualties" means killed OR wounded. So if 100 people were killed and 400 people were injured, there were 500 casualties.

Palestine Red Crescent says Israeli army demanding evacuation of Al-Quds hospital

The Palestinian Red Crescent said its operations at Al-Quds hospital in Gaza City face an “imminent threat” after the Israeli military ordered the hospital’s evacuation.

The PRCS posted in an “urgent appeal” to social media saying that the hospital is “a sanctuary for over 400 patients and around 12,000 displaced civilians”.

We call the international community to act urgently, averting another catastrophe like Al-Ahli hospital.

Initial investigations cast doubt on aspects of the IDF line on the bombing of the Baptist/Anglican hospital

Analysis of hospital strike (starts around 5 mins in)

Doppler analysis has shown that the missile/bomb came from the NE not the SW as alleged by the IDF

Sound analysis of the alleged conversation between two Hamas operatives shows a degree of digital manipulation which makes it unsound as evidence.

You know where one of the battle headquarters is located? In or under the hospital. In order to take them out the Israelis need the citizens gone in order to stop Hamas. This is Israel once again doing what they can to limit civilian casualties.

If Hamas surrendered it would be over. But again they DONT CARE about their own people.

However many Palestinians get killed... It's all 100% Hamas' fault, because every single Israeli strike is in reaction to Hamas' continued rocket firings - which must be stopped..

Hamas genocidal intentions we never secret:

The most relevant of the document’s 36 articles can be summarized as falling within four main themes:

  1. The complete destruction of Israel as an essential condition for the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of a theocratic state based on Islamic law (Sharia),
  2. The need for both unrestrained and unceasing holy war (jihad) to attain the above objective,
  3. The deliberate disdain for, and dismissal of, any negotiated resolution or political settlement of Jewish and Muslim claims to the Holy Land, and
  4. The reinforcement of historical anti-Semitic tropes and calumnies married to sinister conspiracy theories.
