CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not really that sympathetic towards him as I myself have struggled with psychosis so I know what it is like.

That is irrelevant. I really have little sympathy for the man for what he did, and I am not happy about the CIA torturing people, but you said you have little sympathy because you have had psychosis, like him.

Nobody wanted him in open court anyways. It could be embarrassing to the deep state if he had a good lawyer and a vigorous defense that spilled too much information to the public. Now he can just go and get disappeared again.

The deep state could just make sure he has a lousy lawyer, or a deep state agent lawyer. Theyre the deep state. They can do anything.

Maybe after so many years in Guantanamo was was unfit to plead. Whatever the rights and wrongs of his detention , guilty or not, It is not really surprising that he is mentally unwell. It happens to a lot of long term prisoners with no release date.
There is no need for elaborate theories here.

We need elaborate theories to impose order on what would otherwise be a chaotic world.
