There is no evidence he is being held to a higher standard though.

George Bush Dick Cheney election in 2004? Come on!. You can hate the guy. That is ok. This whole thing is a political witchhunt and it is not going to end well for this country.

I must have missed the part where Al Gore called the Florida Secretary of State and asked him to find enough votes for him to make sure he won. Or when had members of the Florida Democratic Party pretend to be electors and submit a fake certification of votes to Congress. Gore challenged the election, but he did it legally through the courts. Trump tried extra-judicial means to get the result overturned. They are not being held to different standards because they did not do the same things.

Literally every other President
Every other President who staged a rally near the Capitol, on the day of the certification of their political rival at winning the previous year’s Presidential Election?
Yes.

Oh we’ll weather any political storm nicely. The sky hasn’t fallen yet.

Intellectual dishonesty doesn't do much for me. I think you are smart enough to understand what is happening in the government. I will check back in a few weeks. have a good day and stop watching so much MSNBC.

I watch like zero news cable or otherwise, I prefer print media (even if only electronic “print”).
It must be nice to know all about one’s follow posters in such detail, though. What’s your secret to knowing that you’re correct in your assessments?

What other president conspired to defraud the United States and subvert an election via the submission of fraudulent electoral documents?

A special grand jury report that helped indict Trump is out today.

ATLANTA (AP) — A judge on Friday is expected to release the full report compiled by a special grand jury that helped an investigation by the Georgia prosecutor who ultimately indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 others.

--

And here it is. 28 Pages.

With respect to the January 2%, 2021 phone call from President Trump to 10 Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, the Grand Jury recommends the District 11 Attorney seek indictments against the following individual(s) 12 Donald Trump 13 RelevantStatutes,including votes (22); 14 0CGA 16-10-93 (b) 21Y/IN/0A 15 0CGA 16-10-20 21Y/1N/0A 16 0.CGA 21-2604 1BY/IN/3A 17 006A 21-2:597 19Y/1N/2A 18 0CGA16-4-7, criminal solicitation 19 0CGA1610-8 19Y/1N/2A 20 0CGA 161020 20Y/IN/1A

For what appears to be essentially a list of conspirators, the special grand jury report lists 39 people in all. There seems to have been one hardcore Trump-fan who objected to most of the charges, but here there's one interesting entry. With 13 votes to charge, 7 votes against and one abstention: Lindsay Graham. Senators Perdue and Loeffler are also mentioned with 4 and 6 No votes respectively. (None of the senators were charged by Willis.)

Perdue also comes out worse on a specific charge related to "persistent, repeated communications directed to multiple 5 Georgiaofficials and employees" 16Y/1N/1A

A lot of “1 No” (to indict).
I will speculate that this is the same person throughout and not several people each deciding on this or that indictment to vote “no”.
They will be writing a book I’m sure, hit the Right-wing lecture circuit, perhaps?

"... the special grand jury’s recommendations went beyond the charges Willis and her team ultimately pursued, Graham, Trump campaign attorneys Cleta Mitchell and Boris Epshteyn, former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, pro-Trump attorney L. Lin Wood, and former senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, both Republicans from Georgia."

Well, that should help them sleep better at night...knowing that any day, the prosecutor could decide to bring charges....or not.

Alright. I am going to leave this thread permanently after this post. I may just avoid the political sections of this forum since I am convinced that no argument can be made to change the mind of either side including me. A willingness to except we might be wrong is necessary for any real meaningful argument. We all might as well be throwing cow manure at a wall hoping it breaks.

This indictment sets horrible precedent that I fear will lead to violence (from both the right and the left). Its one thing to find a crime and go after the person who did it. Its another to pick the perpetrator you want to prosecute and then go find the crime. The right will now use this same tactic on the left.. and our political structure will spiral down into a horrible situation.

I think this will be the last comments I make in the political areas of this forum for a long while. I wish you all well, left or right I don't care. I wish you all well, and I sincerely hope my fears are unfounded.

Well, good bye then, I guess.
I do not know about you, but I’m pretty much only committing chronocide here on my best days.
If you can find a better method to get through your day(s), good for you.
I rather enjoy the daily struggle with people with whom I disagree. It builds character.

There’s a wiki that’s rational, there you might still find “Pommer’s Law”, which should be entertaining for you.

Willis seeks to have all 19 defendants in Georgia election interference case tried together

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in a filing Tuesday reiterated her desire for all 19 defendants charged in her Georgia election interference case to stand trial together, telling the judge that her office "maintains its position that severance is improper at this juncture and that all Defendants should be tried together." The filing requests that "at a minimum," the judge orders former Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell, who has also filed a speedy trial motion, to stand trial at the same time as Chesebro.

Georgia judge shuts down DA’s effort to try Trump and co-defendants together

While McAfee didn’t set a trial date for Trump and 16 of his co-defendants, the timeline he sets out in a court order Thursday means they wouldn’t go on trial before at least December.

The new schedule laid out by the judge signals he wants to start hashing out pretrial disputes with the batch of 17 defendants by the end of the year. The judge is ordering discovery to start by October 6.

“We are pleased the California Republican Party readopted a winner-take-all provision [as long as #1 gets 50%+1], and we look forward to competing across California to win all of its delegates, just as President Trump did in 2016 and 2020. Always Back Down and Ron DeSantis suffered a humiliating defeat as they tried to manipulate the party rules,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, intentionally misnaming the DeSantis super PAC, said in a statement.

Cheung later deleted the post and has clarified that TRUMP did NOT buy the gun (which would be illegal for someone under felony indictment). But he wanted to.
