  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So a professor has the great and totally unexpected, unpredictable, idea to help remove "bigotry" in your children. Showing them a variety of penises and vaginas in class.

An activist University of British Columbia professor is under fire for claiming young children should be exposed to adult genitals — to prepare them for seeing naked trans people.

In her response, the academic sniffed: “Hey, want to know one of my all-time excellent parenting ideas? Let. Little. Children. See. Penises. And. Vulvas. Of. Various. Ages. And. Sizes. In. A. Casual. Normalized. Totally. Safe. Way.”

Personally, I think we should teach kids to run from people exposing genitalia to them, scream for help, and try to find an adult who isn't a sexual deviant to tell.

I don't have to wonder what's wrong with the teacher.

1. They're part of an activist group with an unhealthy obsession with sexualizing children under the guise of education.

2. They don't care who they hurt, permanently damage, put in harm's way, or psychologically scar for life...as long as it gets them whatever they want.

I'm more curious about those still supporting them. Do you know the difference between a slippery slope and a slippery slope fallacy? If people at least partially blocked their efforts to show genitalia to children in cartoonish children's books and now they want to just show kids the real deal until they're desensitized to it...which one do you think you're on?

A slippery slope?

Or an activist movement that has something to do with "rights"?

What? I thought this had to be a joke. Hope this person doesn't have children.

Strange. Although, by age 2-3, toddlers should know the difference between male and female, and with which sex they identify. By 5, children should know the proper names for male and female anatomy. They should also know their genitals aren't shameful. But they are private, and shouldn't be touched by anyone other than their parents, or legitimate health care professionals as part of a medical examination or other necessary procedure.

...which is odd, because large swaths of adults seem to be rather confused by the topic.

Someone should notify some of the organizers of the recent pride parades about the "they are private" part.

I used to actually go to those to support my cousin who's gay when he and his partner just wanted to wear rainbow t-shirts and get married...that's long since passed and they have that right now. When I saw two leather daddies (one spanking the other one who had a ball-gag in his mouth) participating in the festivities, that's when I realized that some of this stuff has gone off the rails.

I think you can still support gay rights without abandoning all contemporary mores. For instance, if a straight couple performing an act would be considered inappropriate, the fact that it's two gay guys doing it shouldn't cancel that out or make it an expression synonymous with "pride".

Sad, but true. One would think that in the 21st century, knowledge of basic biology wouldn't be hampered by outmoded Puritanism.

There are always those who push the envelope. But it's not a reliable way to effect social change.

Pretty soon they're going to start saying teaching kids about "stranger danger" is prejudiced.

Or has that already happened?

I remember when I was a kid on gi Joe they had a little psa at the end of episodes and some were about not talking to strangers, in spiderman comics they had one page ads with the power pack about inappropriate touching and a lot more. Now that has all but disappeared.

Now you actually have people publicly talking about touching children and sexualizing children and no one says a thing.

I am angered and saddened to see this kind of thing going on.

Or the person mentioned in the OP.

even our own president touches and smells children live on national tv.

A family friendly labeled event with [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] ring toss.

I had a incident when I was a child and now as an adult I have no tolerance for anything even remotely sexualizing children. It angers me a great deal and it makes me sad to see our society allowing it to happen.

Even pushing transgender on small children is sexualizing them and it sickens me.

Or even seeing shows where pre teens enter the adult world of professional drag queens.

True. Any toddler who has siblings of the opposite sex sure knows all about it.
