  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After all of this why do you still hang onto trump? If you give me a list i will add a poll

I wouldn't call myself a Trump hangeroner, but I see things being done to Trump that were not done to others in the same position. But when you bring any of it up all you get is denial. Denial from some anonymous poster on the internet is one thing but denial on the part of the media and especially government officials and agencies is another thing altogether.

No one has been in anything like his position on January 6th.

The recent indictment on president Trump is nothing more than weaponizing Bidens DOJ against his political opponent in the 2024 election

A Banana Republic

Banana Republic

Exhibit A

"Despite having lost, the Defendant was determined to remain in power. So for more than two months following election day on November 3, 2020, the Defendant spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won. These claims were false, and the disseminated them anyway—to make his knowingly false claims appear legitimate, create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger, and erode public faith in the administration of the election."

There was some kerfuffle around 1800, election, being as “close” as it was, despite the popular-vote being over 60% for the Jefferson ticket.
Yet no one has attempted to halt the process for 145 years until Donald Trump thought that he was somehow more important than the law-of-the-land?

No.

That is because no one who held Trump's position ever engaged in the 40 plus crimes the DOJ had enough evidence to warrant indictments for.
It's not the DOJ who indicts. It is everyday citizens sitting on three grand juries. No evidence--no indictments. Mountains of evidence=mountains of indictments.

....until Donald Trump thought that he was somehow more important than the law-of-the-land?...
I think maybe he IS more important than the law of the land.

"Important" is what people make it.

If he had succeeded in what he’s now indicted for having allegedly tried to do, he’d still be President and the ship of state would have been in uncharted waters.

Histrionic fan fiction aside, this is simply incorrect. Donald apparently committed crimes and there was sufficient evidence for a grand jury in the District of Columbia (the location in which the crimes occurred) to issue indictments and for a case to proceed against him. I'm not a lawyer, but I have sufficient familiarity with the law to know that's exactly how justice proceeds in our Constitutional liberal democracy.

Give me one example and I promise to take your position seriously and respond with something more substantive than denial.

Is hangeroner a word?
The closet word I could find was hangover : )
It's a perfectly cromulent word.
The preferred plural is hangers-on, but hangeroners works just fine.

I voted for him in the hopes he would go forward with his promises and he did as far as he could until he handled adversity in a very immature way. Had he been well balanced he would have won out. His weaknesses and immaturity was his downfall. They all have that you say. You are right but he is to underhanded and dishonest and has proven given half a chance would destroy the country. We are fortunate that we saw his true self before it was too late
What would be your detailed explanation for Joe Biden?

If he had let the experts handle the COVID response and stay out of the way he’d’ve been a shoo-in.
He didn’t, he wanted to “lead”.
