I suppose when Christians on the one hand negate any applicability of God's Torah/Instruction/Law and thus on the other hand support sin, such things become difficult to reason. But those who truly read and let God's Word say what it says, don't end up with confusion on such matters.
I'm going to use the YLT version here because it translates a couple words more literally than other translations do:
YLT 1Cor6:9-11 have ye not known that
the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit?
be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor effeminate,
nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. 11 And certain of you
were these!
but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
- In verse 9 "effeminate [men]" - the unrighteous - will not inherit God's Kingdom.
- In verse 11 Christians were cleansed of this unrighteousness.
- If a "Christian" is supporting such behavior in any way, then this "Christian" is enabling the loss of God's Kingdom for such an individual.
- This is not love of neighbor.
- Love of neighbor is OC Torah carried into the NC era.
- Love of neighbor from Lev19:18 is written in a couplet that includes rebuking a sinful neighbor.
- Tolerating sin is not Love of neighbor. It is hatred of neighbor and God.
NET Deut22:5 A woman must not wear men's clothing,15 nor should a man dress up in women's clothing, for anyone who does this is offensive 16 to the LORD your God.
- What was offensive - literally in Hebrew; abomination, abhorrent, and in Greek disgusting, detestable - is now OK?
When a Christian writes about "gay pastors" and such things of which there is no such thing Biblically - 1Cor6:9-11 should be sufficient to instruct this & we can add the instruction about the qualifications for church servant-leaders - the unrighteous are not the servant-leaders of the righteous in Christ - then such Christian has bought into the lie.
Romans1 explains that the proliferation of all this sinful behavior is God's Judgment in process. It is not so much that the judgment is for the behavior as it is that the expanding behavior is evidence of the judgement taking place.
- Part of the process outlined in Rom1 instructs that there are those who do not glorify God as God and are not thankful to Him. God thus ultimately sees their minds as being worthless and He hands them over to themselves. The epitome of this handing over is detailed as homosexual behavior and then as the instruction proceeds it speaks against those who support it. It is all covered under descriptors of unrighteousness and godlessness and suppressing the truth in unrighteousness.
- This is what Christians tolerating such behavior is all about. In the name of Love, they're the supporters and pushers of judgment that will affect multitudes. They are supporting the suppression of truth - truth that God exists, and all humanity is responsible to Him.
It needs to be recognized that these sins are listed among additional sinful behaviors that we do not tolerate. They can be read very clearly in Scripture like 1Cor6 and Gal5 and the end of Rom1. They're not special. They're simply sin. which is lawlessness, unrighteousness, disobedience to God, hatred of God, and the absolute opposite of Love for God, neighbor and one another. It is also the absolute opposite of Faith in God and the Lord of Heaven and earth - Jesus Christ.
Ever heard the saying, As goes the Church, so goes the nation? Those who have lived awhile and pay at least some attention can see very clearly that the problems are big and expanding. Those who have lived awhile and let God say and mean what He says have some insight as to why this is.
Love rejoices with the truth (
1 Co 13:6).
Agreed and there is such thing as to love in truth (1John3:18, 2John1, 3John1). Love apart from truth is not Love.
We must protect the purity of the congregation, for sin spreads like a disease (
1 Co 5:11-13).
Agreed.
Agreed again.
The NT is clear on the sin of homsexuality (
Ro 1:24-27).
Agreed and a few other Scriptures have been referenced and effeminate men has been added for this OP.
The sin of it is the sexual practice of it. Apart from that practice, it is not sin.
Disagreed. You've heard it said...but I tell you (Matthew5). And it is only in Christ that this malady can be fixed. It has always been about circumcision of heart beyond flesh. Actual righteousness and not hypocrisy (acting). Truth.
God's creation order is no small matter, and violation of it is likewise no small matter.
The consequences of its violation will be devastating over time.
Absolutely agreed.
And it is God that is under attack and thus God's creation and created order. The proliferation of the sin(s) under discussion here are attacks against God and God's creation and order in "kinds". One has to be blind to not realize this was never simply about sex and marriage, etc. This descent doesn't stop until all is fair game - absolute lawlessness. If you're not watching, children are now the topic. The rate of descent has been increasing exponentially.
Thanks for the stand
@Clare73. Few seem to understand Love in truth or worship/bow in obeisance to God in Spirit and Truth (John4).
