  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I believe the boomer generation is the lukewarm church. Look what the country and the world have become. We left Eph 6 in the closet. Allowing the lies to spew in the media and from the government. Anyone with 6 decades of life should see this societal lunacy is over the top. What Christian organizations are standing up for biology and suing the government for the truth? Truth should be foundational in the Christian belief and we turn a blind eye to it not willing (my dad would say weak) to resist. No wonder Jesus wants to spit, we leave a bad taste in His mouth. Our fathers fought WWII so their kids could turn the country into this? Sadly I take full responsibility as a boomer. God told us how this play would unfold and because of the church of Laodicea, Hot on issues when it's against our neighbor and Cold on satans system. The evil ones can't take control unless they have all the money because they are not God. Depleting your kid's inheritance thru healthcare cabal and economic manipulation. COLD on lies because how did we get here? Never know what to believe in media pure sensationalism and lies. I popped my head out of my butt last year, my arrogance. Now I have to be active in politics.

For my boomer neighbors get yourself healthy then you'll realize the abundant life and you'll steal from the devil. The longer we live the better for our kid's assistance. YouTube lookup reversing diabetes, It's working for me. The amazing body the Lord created. Molecular biology is kinda fascinating. I also learned some stuff about stocks and the economy, another way to finance antichrists' dominance. The more financial videos I watch the more suspect I get about monetary policy.
Peace

I was walking out on a politician who had set himself up in a park I was in. When asked why i responded i wasn't interested in the game he and his fellow man was playing. That without the people their false system would not even exist as it depended on the people to make it work in order for them to find power at others expense. As a Christian I merely stated I was not going to aide and abet the wrong kingdoms. My life could go on quite nicely without them (and likewise I expect them to leave me alone also).

I qualify for the 6 decade club and I think that society is doing great. Global poverty is at the lowest level that it's ever been... by far. There are always going to be people who think that the sky is falling, that morality is deteriorating, and society is going to hell in a handbasket... but it just ain't so. There are hot spots here and there, but there always have been. No big deal.

The problem is that the media and the internet blow everything out of proportion, and some people swallow it hook, line, and sinker. But in reality the world is doing great. We're just gonna have to drag some of you people kicking and screaming into a brighter future... where you can find some other apocalypse to worry about.

It's okay, we don't expect you to thank us.

I believe in positive thinking but comparing my youth to my kids, I had it better. Technology has helped Globally but has hurt Americans in the long run. Media's Distortion of Biology, Lies, half-truths, when did lies become the norm? If the media has created this much mental confusion on gender wait till AI gets a hold of our grandkids. We should demand truthful information. Especially the Ukraine war it reminds me of my scary childhood. In Houston, I remember fallout drills in elementary. I can compare my youth to today's youth and see kids today are more violent, disrespectful to the old, more tribal in beliefs, and not exposed to much truth which causes social issues. For the last 30 years has homelessness gotten any better? But this Global debt bubble is no joke. Reverse diabetes is a hidden truth that the evil one doesn't want you to know.

The only truth is found through discernment by being allowed to ponder all sides. There has never been a reliable source of truth as man is prone to seek power by controlling the narrative. Remember when the atomic bomb was called a gift from God and people believed it?

I must have been too young and don't remember that but the atom bomb to me was scary. We are too tribalistic to ponder both sides and it is the devil who is amassing power through the confusion in the media, economy, health, and our finances. Peace

I agree with all but the too tribal part, although might does often overrule common sense.

This is true if by the devil you're referring to is us, and our own irrational fears. If we're lucky AI will save us before we foolishly destroy ourselves with our own stupidity.

My tribalism started as a Republican and with every issue I was marching to the drumbeat. Then a Christian vs atheist, gay marriage, abortion, theist/non-theist evolutionist, and the list goes on. Today no one can talk together without getting mad. Peace

I'm talking about satan's minion the antichrist. He needs money for his power and is way ahead of you on AI. Which lunatic are you going to trust to program it? We should be resisting foreign organizations and governments and they want your stuff. We can save ourselves by standing up. Oh, the war is over money.

Technology has helped Globally but has hurt Americans in the long run.

Not really. People have always had a problem comparing one generation to another, especially nowadays with technology and society evolving faster than it ever has. It's not that things are getting worse, it's just that they're changing, and some people fear change, understandably so, change can be hard. We like things that are predictable and reliable, and change is anything but.

If you take a good honest look around we really aren't worse off now than we were sixty years ago, oh you can point to this or that and claim it as evidence of society's deterioration, but overall we're really doing pretty good. The future's so bright we gotta wear shades.

Media's Distortion of Biology, Lies, half-truths, when did lies become the norm?

Here's the thing, this is the way people have always been, they've always been crazy. It just wasn't in your face 24 hours a day like it is now. That change, from isolation to complete immersion in the nuances of what other people think is almost enough to drive us mad. The cacophony of other people's voices is deafening. What's changed is that you can hear them now, as if what was once hidden within the confines of our own minds is now on display for everybody to see. And it ain't always pretty.

We were always crazy, but we kept our craziness hidden. And letting it out into the light is terrifying, but we'll learn to deal with it, and we'll be much better off for doing so, if we can just get past our biases and preconceptions and accept that these are the same people they've always been, and that the greatest threat to the future of humanity is our own intolerance.

Just a thought but do you think AI can accomplish through force what God couldn't through patience?

I don't think that AI will need to force us to do anything. One of the perhaps scarier aspects of AI is that they're now being trained in how to be persuasive. And if the past is any indication then they're eventually going to be pretty darn good at it. Given enough time AI may be able to convince us to do just about anything.

Now this may seem like a bad thing, but is it really? After all, humanity has been finding reasons to persecute each other for thousands of years now, perhaps what we need is an AI that can actually convince us not to.

Certainly considering we now live a mainly digital life and our finances can be cut off at any time if we don't comply.

If the change you mean is telling biological boys they can be girls. I'll take a zero on this lunacy.

You're making much ado about nothing, as the saying goes. People tend to see demons everywhere, most of humanity's conflicts and struggles have been caused by them battling demons that aren't even there. Or to be more accurate... we're the demons.

So what's your solution? Drive it back into the shadows where it came from? Deny that some people don't experience sexuality the same way you do? Force them to conform to your version of normalcy?

If that's your idea of a solution then fine, go for it, but I can tell you now, it's not going to work. Hate them if you want to, if it makes you feel better, but don't for one minute think that it's the 'Christian' thing to do.

The Church in Laodicea, as mentioned in St. John's Apocalypse, was a real church in a real city. The seven churches were real churches.

One could, if they want, look at the virtues and vices attributed to those churches and provide encouragement and warning about those things in how they could be applied to in different contexts. For example, the word spoken to the Christians of Laodicea about having become lukewarm, because they had grown content in their ease and had lost sight of their first love is certainly applicable to many. The call to always remember our first love--Christ--is always relevant. But that doesn't make any modern church, or any generation of Christians, "The Laodicean church", that was an actual community of Christians living in the province of Asia, with circumstances particular to the time when St. John wrote the Apocalypse.

The city, and therefore the Christian community living there, existed until the Mongol invasion of the 13th century.
