All the judge did was potentially put people's lives in danger and at a minimum open them up to pre-trial harassment by MAGA hordes.

Seeing the title of this tread, I can't help but think of Crocodile Dundee, in the first movie, where he says "That's not a knife..." at which point he pulls out his own knife, and states, "This is a knife."

Denying a motion by the prosecution is not a "smack down," nor is denying a motion by the defense. OTOH, what Judge Cannon got from the Federal Appeals court, smacking down her decision, how Trump required a Special Master for the documents discovered as part of the Search Warrant of Mar-A-Lago, that was a real smack down.

I mentioned something similar in the threads pertaining to the jurors in Trump's last legal debacles from a few months ago in the Carroll case. The Trump team was trying to get the names of the jurors...my position would be that they shouldn't get this list either (for the exact same reasons)

Why even ask for this information?

Anyone have an idea why trump would want the names, addresses of family members and their places of employment? Anyone? Everything about this seems like a bad idea from trumps perspective. I mean the judge had already gave her decision of an anonymous jury? What are his lawyers doing?

Trump has been accused of witness tampering in the past, as well as using threatening language in social media posts that could intimidate potential jurors and witnesses. The House committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol suggested last year that Trump or his allies had contacted witnesses to urge them not to testify to the committee.

He hasn't been even indicted for it, but as this progresses, the temptation is there. And Trump has not shown me any restraint from doing illegal things.

That's not really a smackdown as Smith can make the required corrections and resubmit.

Trump would have to know who the witnesses are to even be able to not contact them. I think it was the media that wants transparency in this case.
