  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WHATS YOUR FAVORITE PIE? have you ever baked it yourself?

Eddy Arnold's Coconut Cream Pie.

Eddy Arnold's Coconut Cream Pie

My mom found this recipe decades ago, I think in one of those Sunday newspaper magazine inserts. Eddy Arnold was one of my Dad's favorite country singers, which I know is beside the point. ;)

The pie is fantastic. And no, I've never personally made it. I don't have the patience to do the custard thing. Maybe someday, the recipe is somewhere in her old recipes.

So mince meat doesn't have meat. Maybe it should be called berry pie:)

Mincemeat (no space) is a British term for a mix of currants and raisins and other dried fruit mushed up with sugar and a slosh of brandy and stored for a while to mature a bit. I think you can buy it premade in cans or jars.

It's typically used to make mince pies at Christmas time

The word goes back a couple of centuries. The 'meat' bit probably comes from its appearance. Minced fruit like currants and raisins looks a lot like minced meat.

Meat is also a generic term for food/nourishment in older forms of English as in "meat and drink". This older definition of 'meat' may have also influenced 'mincemeat'.

Sugar cream.

Lemon raspberry. Have done all the homemade versions.

It is feeling so so hot and dry that I was thinking of getting ready to make my berry pie.today. It was the first full day of summer today. Happy Summer!
