  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The president called the LGBT community “the bravest and most inspiring" people he's ever met, acclaiming them as an example for the entire world

Then chooses to celebrate them for a month.

Yet on June 6 -our Commander in Chief is completely silent until 8:45pm and they get a tweet for their sacrifice.

President Biden late Monday issued a statement on the 78th anniversary of D-Day, after failing to mention the historic day in any of his earlier remarks. His tweet is timestamped at 8:45 p.m. ET, by which time it was the early morning of June 7 in Normandy, France.

Trump appears hale and hearty. Biden appears frail. Biden unfortunately comes off as someone getting close to being in need of assisted living. I'm not saying that to mock him. I'm saying that because he's running for four more years as president when he's clearly deteriorating both physically and mentally.

They both need to step back. Nobody should be president while 80+.

Agreed. That's why I'm rooting for DeSantis. I predict that those who hate Trump, will hate DeSantis more. And if Trump is convicted, DeSantis can pardon him.

No way, at least in my case. I don't care for a number of DeSantis' policies, but he seems to be an okay guy. I could put up with him as president. (I'm still rooting for Haley.)
My problem with Trump is his character, and I would prefer a moldy turnip as president over him.

If you think people hate Trump just because he's a Republican, you might as well have been living on another planet.

DeSantis? Not even once. He's a Trump clone (self-aggrandizing, petty, vindictive, etc.) only he'd be more competent at getting his bad policies through. I might vote republican if the candidate isn't one of those two, if only because I think a republican president might calm the extreme right down for a bit.

It's certainly possible I could change my mind about DeSantis as I see more of him in the presidential race. I can't imagine him being worse than Trump, though.

The ONE advantage of DeSantis that I see is I don't think he has delusions of kingship (or ULTIMATE POWER MWAHAHAHA).

Agreed - there should be age limits both in the Presidency and Congress.

It's a sad day when we have a Commander in Chief who pays more honor to people of specific sexual persuasions (except not heterosexual) than the men and women who fought and died paying for the right for them to have free expression.

We will not forget, even if the Commander in Chief does.

I don't know about that...when I've talked to various democrats, the takeaway I've gotten is that the dislike Trump more on a personal level, but view DeSantis as a bigger political challenge. (which isn't quite the same as hatred)

If Trump is planning on DeSantis giving him a pardon as a "backup plan", he's not doing a very good job of hedging his bets by constantly attacking him the way he has been.

I guess there are no substantive disagreement with President Biden's policies so the right needs culture war nonsense like this thread.
You can agree or disagree with the right's various culture war stances.

...but I think one could make a reasonable case that the "culture war" was started by the left, and the right's response was reactionary to what was happening around them.

In a nutshell, the left pushed a myriad of cultural issues too far, too fast, and when the right (and a large number of centrists) reacted, and harshly, then all of the sudden "it's petty to focus on the culture stuff".

My memory is that the Right started the "culture war," when Republicans started being heavily influenced by the Religious Right. I'm guessing that many in the homosexual community will claim their interest in politics came about with the Religious Right and, specifically, the Reagan administration's (pushed by the Religious Right) response to AIDS.

No. I'm old enough to remember Pat Buchanan's speech in the 90s.

The right wing thinks this sort of stuff is a winning strategy for them.

So, the purpose of this thread is to express "faux" outrage at Biden using some friendly hyperbole towards LGBT.

Hmmm, OK.
My eyes are typically directed towards the Indictment of Trump these days, but this was some light releif.
