  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes! And wearing a t shirt to show that you are a hater of a protected demographic is something only a hateful person would do.
All the sudden the liberals are not so liberal anymore.

It's nobody's business except those that might need help, their family and their friends. And those that care will take advice as to the best course of action. This kid's parents have every right to hold whatever views they choose. But to involve their kid in this kind of political posturing is nothing short of disgraceful.
LOL. Parents have no right in this kind of>>>>blah blah. But the schools (other people) do. Gender ideology is political posturing, only when parents hold those views. What a mouthful really.

He should win because his right to freedom of speech should not be hindered by those with opposing views. Their freedom of speech can’t eliminate his freedom of speech.
But they're sacred and he's scumb.

The kid looks old enough to form his own opinions. Your assuming that those aren’t his own views as if he was forced to wear the shirt against his own desire to do so when typically kids at his age are allowed to choose their own clothes provided they are not deemed as inappropriate by the parents. As Americans we retain the right to voice our opinions and call out things that we feel are ridiculous as being such.

And none shall dare oppose them. Because all who do are the scumb of the earth. That's quite a brilliant set up.
Whelp, it worked for Christianity for absolutely ages.

Not sure what his second tee shirt is trying to convey especially when photographed with the Bennington Flag. This flag represents equality for all unless one is using it for purposes that ignite hatred which is what his first tee shirt represented. No one has the right to wear anything that causes pain or is purposely aimed to hurt a particular group. Free speech is not at play here only hate speech.
Blessings.
I don’t see it as hateful, I see it as opposition combatting against ridiculousness that’s growing in America.

So if a kid in the same school had a t shirt with ‘X religion is stupid and so are X ians/ists’ you would support that?

How would you react to a kid wearing a t shirt saying ‘Christianity is ignorant superstition’?

Would that be hate?

I was under the impression that the shirt said there are only two genders which would be equivalent to a shirt saying there is only one church which I wouldn’t be opposed to or offended by. I might disagree with which church is that one church but I wouldn’t say that the shirt should be banned.

Most schools have rules that students can't wear messages that would be 'disruptive' for other students.

OK, now that I've RTA, it "violated its dress code. Specifically, the "content of Liam’s shirt targeted students of a protected class; namely in the area of gender identity." "

We'll see what the courts make of it. It's not clearcut in my mind.

"Students don't forfeit their free speech rights when they… step into the school.

Being not a hater of a protected demographic is very liberal.
There’s nothing hateful about saying there are only two genders. What your are considering to be hateful is any statement that is in opposition to anything other than traditional gender identity. You’re basically saying that anyone who voices an opposing opinion is hating on those who have a different opinion. That’s not hate that’s disagreement.

So LGBTQQIP2SAA+ should be likened to a religion seeking as many converts and obedience as possible. In essence, I agree with that analogy.

But there is nothing derogatory about any particular person or group on the shirt, it merely states a personal view.

Should it be considered to be inappropriate for a kid to wear a shirt that says there is only one God? Such a short doesn’t make any derogatory statements towards another religion it merely states a particular belief.

That's a false equivalency. A realistic equivalency would be a shirt that said "There is no God" or "Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try".
