No friends as a young adult

I often tend to spend time alone as I find social gatherings tiring quite often. However, I do sometimes enjoy being in a social setting.

I would suggest, perhaps, checking with your parish community for anything you can volunteer for or if there are any small groups you could join.
For non-faith/religious groups perhaps you can look into any local place were board gamers gather. I sometimes go to a place not too far from me (about once a month or so) where people gather to play board games. It is social and structured. The games range from traditional games such as chess, go, and backgammon to more modern games (Euro type worker placement/resource management games to competitive war type American based games). It is not for everyone, but I enjoy it.

I do belong to a Church. It's a very large congregation so most people do not know each other.

Do have any hobbies or special interests? Perhaps you could join local groups and connect with others that share your interests. It is much easier to start conversations ( if you are more shy or reserved ) with others if you are connecting over a mutual interest.

Supposing you are a man looking for bonding with some other men, I think that the most easiest way is to join some MMA gym, fitness/sport club and similar.

Nothing works as well for men to create friendships as having to physically fight together for something. Its probably from the times we were hunters as a species.

I always found some friendships quicker in this way than in a church or during a similar sedentary activity. Sitting at the table, sipping a tea and chatting works better for women.
