  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think a movie can evangelise?

A 3 hour movie is bound to depict events that did not happen according to scripture but are imagined to happen - still if the author is faithful to the text he can be effective. You have posted a 3 hour movie - I am not sure how many non-Christians would signup for a 3 hour movie to be evangelized - but I think it is worth trying it to see.

Anything that plants the seed about God cannot be bad. Life after all is a learning process as we are to continually seek Him, so there need be no ah ha moment in a movie or otherwise as there are many ah ha moments as we seek. Look at the interest that has occurred world wide just by the series the Chosen.

Watch it and see if it depicts things that are not in the text.

Can the gospel according to Saint John the theologian be effective in evangelism?
God can use anything, and usually does. We know people can be saved at the meetings of a charlatan.

I am inclined to believe that you were not consciously associating the movie of the gospel of John with charlatans but your post can be read that way. I like the movie. I imagine you might like it to.

You're right, I haven't seen it, and I don't associate it with charlatans. I was answering your title; I have seen God use anything he chooses to use, including sin and the ungodly, to bring people to himself.
