So you think the NYCo DA filed charges with expired applicability expecting them to be tossed?
I don’t know what he expected but from the link I posted it looks like the statute of limitations is 2 years for a misdemeanor and 5 years for “other felonies “.

Oh please, the 25th amendment would have been evoked if there was something solid enough to convict him on. This indictment will be like the two flimsy impeachments that went nowhere. The whole thing all of these years has smacked loudly of grasping at straws.
More revisionism. In both impeachments Donald received Republican votes to acquit. In Imeachment II he almost received enough Republican votes to convict. By contrast President Clinton not only received no Dem votes to convict, but 10 Rep votes to acquit.

All three were political. The goal was to brand the president as impeached. Since Clinton had already been impeached within our timeline, Trump needed to be double impeached.

Are you contending that the reasons behind the impeachments weren't valid?

If a president (regardless of the political party that president belongs to) abused his powers to pressure a foreign head of state to interfere with a US election, or if a president caused an insurrection, should not that president be held accountable for those actions?

Keep in mind, the impeachment proceedings are there to determine IF the president is guilty of these actions, it isn't a presupposition that he (or she) is. If there is a question, should we not investigate? Are these not important things for a president to be held accountable for?

-- A2SG, be willing to bet if a democrat did either of those things, the GOP would be rushing to impeach with lightning speed.....

From my understanding, the New York statute of limitations’ clock stops if the indictee leaves the state.
That seems the only way it could work I suppose. But that seems rather off. It means if someone committed a misdemeanor, and left the state for 50 years, he could be convicted of upon return.

While the process and basis for impeachment, they are also by nature political.

That's certainly is some entertaining fan fiction.
I'm certain they all and most everyone else knew in all three instances the impeachments wouldn't go anywhere. If a president did something truly heinous there would be a certainty that it would result in a conviction.

Unless that president had the full and unquestioning support of their party behind them, then who knows?

-- A2SG, what kind of trial has the jury working closely with the defense counsel?

If this thread were on the twitter of old it would have been taken down for misinformation. Oh yea my mistake, only conservative thought was censored there. It is so very sad to read the amount of joy from those who don’t even realize they are cheering on the destruction of this nation. Some claiming “ no one is above the law “ while cheering on the abuse and misuse of the law. This is a sad day for this once great nation. If we survive this outright attack on freedom it will be because of the mercies of God. I see very little on some of these hate filled threads to give one hope.

Very probably true. Which would easily explain the 2020 election, and how it wasn't in any way stolen.

-- A2SG, not that any evidence whatsoever ever suggested it was.....
It wasn’t stolen it was bought, in large part by Zuckerberg

I suppose you have as much evidence for that assertion as Trump's legal team had for his?

-- A2SG, crickets.....

How about blaming the total lack of prosecution in several years on climate change? Or has that been tried already?

If you see someone making that claim, I will mock them for it. I stay with my previous assessment of this conversation.

I find it difficult to take your opinions seriously if you think any prosecutor would just file charges they know are outside the statute of limitations just because they would like to "get" a particular person.
Go back and listen to Bragg when he was campaigning. You should be able to find it on YouTube
