What is it that distances Russia from the West?

That's not making sense, when Russians are calling for the bombing of Paris and London.

The United States Is the spreading out of real Europe. We were founded on Dutch, English, French and more recently German principles, and as such, the Dutch, English, French and Germans are all standing against the questionable Tater-Russians when they claim the United States' culture is somehow illegitimate.

There's nothing foreign about the United States. It's the Tater-Russians who are actually the foreigners. They're more similar to Turks, in that they are closer to the Ottomans than they are anything European.

It's Russian/Ottoman culture that is the problem.

Unfortunately, this evaluation is, on the whole, a little bit too reductionistic, brother Landon.

Biblcially speaking, ALL modern day cultures have a "problem," not just the Russian one.

So Russia has been condemning the West in it's state run propaganda machine apparently, where now, Russian civilians are saying they're ready to bomb London or Paris, in an allout battle against the West. Russia has also said that it is prepared to push back the borders of Poland.

...So my question becomes, *why* is Russia so hostile toward the West? Do they not consider themselves fellow Europeans? Can they not see that we all share the same religions, and culture? They have the same malls that we do, the same cars, and the same logic.

So what is it, exactly, that they feel they need to protect themselves from? Are they opposed to immigration, like a kind of racism? I don't think that's it. I don't think it's the LGBTQ dilemma - there's no need for an authoritarian regime to worry about that - they can easily outlaw it.

So what on earth are they doing..? Why would they want to hate their own kin (fellow Europeans)? What are they "protecting" themselves from?
Russia has severe psychological problems as a culture. Several times throughout the Soviet period, "generations" were deliberately destroyed. By "generation" I mean a mass of people roughly the same age likely to bond as a large group on the basis of shared experiences. Further, the natural passing down of cultural information from parents to children was shattered more than once by the regime. The effects are long-lasting. And the current regime is at it again.

Because of all that, Russia is incapable of governing itself and (as a culture) can only experience envy and hatred.

This is easily worked by the rulers.

But the topic of *this* thread is very specific.

And this thread exists because of the soaring, and unnecessary death tolls, reaching into the hundreds of thousands now, between two "Christian" countries.

It seems that the root cause of this war is a disconnect between Russian morals, and the morals of the rest of The West...

...To me, it appears Russia has severely misplaced morals when they initiate the murder their neighbors.

This war is not a new thing in history, Landon. It's an unfortunate continuation of all of the developments that have come before in both Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Eurasia over many, many centuries.

And unfortunately, all nations are guilty before God, not just Russia. They've all disconnected from Jesus in one way or another.

Russia is so psychologically dysfunctional, that they claim the high moral ground as they simultaneously slaughter their own neighbors - who are fellow Christian's!

To add this fact to what you've said about their previous slaughterings of various generations, actually *proves* that it is Russia, and the Russian people who support these things, who are distancing themselves not just from the West, but from sanity!

Again, we're not discussing all nations here. The topic here remains very, very specific, and those who take part in this thread are kindly asked to contribute to the better learning of this specific conflict between Russia and "The West".

...It's the only topic here for discussion.

And as a person educated in Social Science, and as one who has studied Russian history and politics at the university level, and as a person who is married to a Russian immigrant, I think my comments are relevant to your inquiry.

One such comment I'd offer about Russia---if I may---is that where Russia is violently pushing its agendas today, you have a leader there who reportedly "listens" to the likes of his private advising political philosopher, Aleksandr Dugin. It is useful to understand Dugin so as to understand the excuses Russia uses.

In understanding the supposed reasons for war that Russia is using, even at the dismay of a number of Russians themselves, you may need to at least briefly become acquainted with Dugin's weird political ideology, as well as with the role that Russia attempts to play for leverage on the world stage as it harbors its Oil and Gas enterprises.

I've appreciated your comments all the way up until you started generalizing about "all nations". I'm only asking for us not to derail the topic by broadening it so far as that.

After reading your post, it has become apparent that your understanding of cultures is the reason it will never make sense to you.

This thread isn't about what I understand or don't understand. You can either respond to the content of the post, with an argument of why it's accurate or inaccurate? Or you can ask questions for clearer understanding? But what you can't do is use ad hominem's and think that you've proved some kind of point - it doesn’t work that way.

Your post was not helpful to anyone.

The US rebelled from Europe, the above post doesn't make sense.

The point of my initial post however, was that the cultural divide from woke culture in the US and Russia is a vast chasm. The US has been very assertive about pushing it's culture on other countries for decades now. It is only natural that Russia push back.

"So what on earth are they doing..? Why would they want to hate their own kin (fellow Europeans)? What are they "protecting" themselves from?"

The statement in the above response contradicts the following:

So I'm not sure how to respond to that part of the post since the opinion expressed is confusing to read.

Mr. Collum,

If it's your position that American woke culture is the reason that Russia feels the need to defend itself, then please explain how taking up arms militarily has become the necessary approach to handling this "problem".

Please explain how conquering Ukraine, and using their land will help in the fight against American woke culture.

I just don't see it as a plausible response. How would it ever even work?

Related to the evil workings of the clinton foundation in Europe, one of the reasons given that people were glad initially Trump was elected, because Hilary wasn't.

The US/West continues to "encroach" ... so war just becomes inevitable.

Yes, there's contradiction there, because between those two bolded quotes, I was taught a valuable piece of information, which caused me to totally reassess my position.

IOW, my positions are changeable, if posters present new, credible information.

Clinton Foundation = Sock Puppet

US = Hand inside puppet.

US is part of Nato, and unlike Georgia, Ukraine is Europe adjacent .. so starting a war there is just asking for trouble.
