  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A nondenominational group wishes to share the message of Christ’s love to whole new audiences.

Super Bowl viewers this Sunday may be surprised to see two ads that don’t seem to have anything to do with Christianity until the end, when the words “Jesus” and “He Gets Us” flash across the screen.

The He Gets Us ads running during the Super Bowl, the most-watched U.S. event of the year, were created by a nondenominational group to share the message of Christ’s love to whole new audiences.

Here are 5 things to know about the HeGetsUs.com ad campaign:

The two Super Bowl ads created by the campaign will focus on “the behavior Jesus modeled in relationship and conflict,” He Gets Us spokesman Jason Vanderground told CNA.

“Instead of responding to divisiveness in anger or avoiding conflict altogether, Jesus demonstrated how we can and should show confounding love and respect to one another,” said Vanderground.

More than just Super Bowl commercials, the He Gets Us campaign first surfaced in March 2022 and has been causing waves through TV spots, billboards and digital ads.

Any thoughts on this campaign, Michie?

Honestly, I haven't liked it any time I've seen it on tv, suspecting it was a movement (campaign) by the left to justify sin.

But now that I read that mature Christians are actually behind it (i.e,, David Green), it's obviously not a message 'from the left'.

The messaging hasn't 'worked' for me ... I honestly didn't 'get it' ... lol ... but hopefully it will 'work' the way it was intended to, for others.

( :praying: )

p.s.
Anyone here old enough to remember the yellow "I Found It" bumper sticker campaign back in the 1970's?

I still remember seeing those bumper stickers, though I didn't fully understand what they meant, back then ...

I get it but I think it fails to convey what that means exactly. Jesus does not relate to sin. He understands us in our fallen state and wishes that we pick up out crosses and follow Him. Jesus meets people where they are at but that does not mean He wants us to stay where we are at.

He knows every hair on our head.
He understands... so if people trust Him, turn to Him He will heal.
I truly hope some ... many ... will feel that way when they read the message on the screen ...

I myself know of 4 close family members gathering tonite to watch the game ...
none of them discusses "religion" with me; I really don't know if they 'ever' discuss it (?).

But watching the game tonite, maybe something in that message will speak to their hearts ...
