What classified documents? How quickly people forget that a sitting President can declassify documents simply by using the power of their thoughts.

All snark aside, I think this particular set of stories highlights some "teachable moments" for both sides of the political fence.

1) to the Democrats, If you're going to lambaste a person for doing "thing XYZ", then you should be doubly sure your own guy hasn't done XYZ

2) to the Republicans, if you're going to complain about "weaponization of the government against our side", it's probably best to refrain from bragging about your attempt to do that exact thing withing the first 10 minutes of gaining some power.


Both present a "a little egg on one's face" scenario.

Given how goofy things have gotten, if some 3rd party candidates/independents can't make a decent showing of it in the next few election cycles, then maybe it is time to just concede and admit that we're doomed to a two-party system forever and this is as good as it's gonna get.

The DOJ specifically had said that the case against the Mar-A-Lago documents was not that they were classified. That part has always been a bit of a red herring.

DUDE lets compare apples and oranges, Biden when discovered imediatly turned them over.

Trump pretended not to have them for almost a year, lied about having them, had to be raided to get them back, STILL HAD MORE OF THEM after being raided, lied about that. If biden is guilty throw the book at him but there is a HUGE difference in what happened.

Trump isn't in legal troubl;e for having classified documents, he's in trouble for lying and keeping them after being told to return them.

I prefer to follow Hanlon's Razor. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Now in Trump's case, Donald deliberately took classified from the White House, he admitted as much, he thinks he had the right to do so, and he actually thinks he should get the documents back. So in my view, that's an action that combines malice with stupidity. In Biden's case, he's like "Sorry guys, I don't know how that happened, we'll get those documents back in the right hands right away, and let's investigate what happened (now that the election is over)". I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a case of stupidity, pending a thorough investigation.

Stupidity isn't an excuse. Heads must roll.

Let us indeed not rewrite history. Mar-a-Lago was raided because Trump didn't hand over the documents he had stored there. Not for just having them but for hindering the recovery of it. The Biden team did alert NARA before they were aware of it and handed the documents the day after.

The Democrats keep saying that this is not as bad as what President Trump did. We knew about Trump's documents in May 2021, 4 months after leaving the White House. Biden was able to keep his stash of classified documents hidden from the American people for over 5 YEARS. Trump's documents were in a central location with Secret Service protection. Biden's stash of contraband classified documents were hidden all over the place with no security what so ever. As soon as the Trump documents were discovered "missing" , it made the news. When Biden's security violations were uncovered, they were kept from the news and people until after the midterm elections to ensure the Democrats could steal as many seats as possible.
