  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Systemic racism in the USA: Are whites "guiltier" if they had slavery in their past?

Our 'success' is bringing us closer to our own extinction and the destruction of our world and has already led to extinction of many animal species.
Our success has lifted more people out of poverty and starvation worldwide than anything else.

My ears have no more patience for their constant whining and entitlement. And no matter what the Govt does for them they continue to complain that its not "good enough". Even free rent, free internet, free cell phone service and free food stamps is "not enough".

Pathetic.

Those things are good blessings. I'd be very thankful for those things.

But I do understand those who complain and it's not entirely their fault. They are probably wanting to have nicer houses, nicer cars, be able to travel, etc. Because when you look at the internet, all you see are people flaunting their wealth or their travels or telling you to buy stuff they use.

Even if you're just walking down the street you images all around you like advertisements bombarding people's minds with images that we should keep on getting, acquiring, and consume.

Our world, society, government, companies, the system we work for is making people to want to have more and never be content with what they have.

We love to blame people for their mistakes and wrong attitudes when it might as well be our fault when we're working for and making a big contribution to a system that never wants you to be contented but wants you keep wanting for more, to be covetous, to be envious.

Success that comes with horrific air pollution with lots of people dying from respiratory illnesses and cancers caused by pollution is no success at all.

Air pollution has dramatically improved over the past 50 years,
Less people are starving, and quality of life has improved worldwide.

And what do you do? Put a Black Lives Matter lawn sign in front of your yard? Just look at the difference between me and you, Racism would go away if people would stop talking about in every 5 minutes...
What sin would go away if we stopped talking about it? Rape? Adultery? Did Paul think that if he never mentioned sin, it would go away? What makes you think racism would go away? Paul even mentioned that.

I thought we're talking about China and India?

Would USA's less pollution have something to do with outsourcing its manufacturing, and many other jobs to other countries?

Since 2011, when restrictions on pollution from industry worldwide was lifted,
deaths every day from pollution increased to some twenty thousand to forty thousand or more.
I have not seen any indication locally nor in world news/events/blogs sources
that pollution has been restricted again, or made less at all --- only worse and worse,
and blamed on other things to distract the whole world from the truth of death by pollution being so common.

I read somewhere it's 5.5 million per year globally. That number also includes deaths from factors related to climate change like storms, forest fires, temperature extremes, etc.

We don't notice these news often because all we see on the internet are viral articles and celebrities because it makes money. Success in this world is defined by income generation and nothing else. It doesn't care for long term consequences. It's funny because in business pep talks, they often talk about seeing the big picture, planning for the long term, and having a good hindsight. But they seem to have none of those if we look at the global consequences of their actions.

If it did, I'm sure you could find an outside source that says this. If you find such a source, feel free to present it; otherwise I will assume less pollution in the USA has more to do with smog control devises on cars, factories, and other various ways we do business.

In heaven and earth in the life to come, do they talk about rape, adultery, sin, racism ? No, not at all.
In small groups meeting together talking with and to and about Jesus,
what do we talk about ? Not about rape nor adultery nor sin nor racism, no , at least almost never except to clarify or correct, or as God Leads when He Chooses ....
How do you know this? Will everybody be prevented from having such discussions? Or will everybody immediately loose interest in talking about other things, and would prefer spending eternity talking about the same thing, Jesus and God; over, and over again?

I read it someplace.
Oh!...... Well that's convincing! So did you read if people will be forced to spend eternity only talking about God and Jesus? Or will they be given a mindset where they will choose to only talk about God and Jesus?

Does sin go away from the world ? No, not until Jesus returns, and maybe then some.
Does sin go away from those abiding in Jesus ? Yes. As written, as directed by God.
Scripturally speaking, the reason why there would be no sin in "heaven and earth in the live to come" is because those who would intentionally commit sin won't be permitted into heaven.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. -- 1 Corinthians 6

But notice that Paul is, for sure, talking about sin, and he's instructing people to stop doing such things in the here and now (or rather, the there and then).

Sin is simply putting our will ahead of the will of God. It boils down to self interest.
If we stopped talking about putting our will ahead of the will of God, would we stop doing it?

I'm sure better technology and improved business standards to cutting down pollution did help to improve the situation.

And then US outsourcing its manufacturing and many other jobs to countries with cheap labor. Surely it's obvious, when you move your factories and offices elsewhere, the pollution it makes goes away in your country and moves to the countries you outsourced these jobs.

It's so obvious you don't need data to see what's going on.

Oh wait, there's more, USA exporting their waste to poor / developing countries. Countries with poor waste management so that much of this waste actually ends up in the oceans, killing marine life and causing unwanted mutations.

"Success" is such an awkward term... perspective of either from God, from heaven, from the earth, the earthly, the devil, demons or man/ mankind....

Extinction is and has been happening because mankind is so proliffic/ successful/ and dangerous.
It is and has been a certainty, because of man's wickednesses, and as God Says in His Word.

I think the more appropriate term is "Greed". Because greed always implicates narrow mindedness, shortsightedness, and indifference.

It seems that 'climate change' has been used to distract from reality,
as it is very very very small potatoes compared to deliberate and continual and increasing pollution or air, food, water and medicine and drugs .

Polluting the minds of people as well.

The clearly observable lessening of pollution in the US occurred decades before "globalization" of labor.

Kind of like someone saying not guilty just because I put an idea in someone else's head and they followed up on if. Akin to hiring a hit man,.
