  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's historically quite inaccurate. None of the World Wars were initiated by the USA. You could have used the slavery, the massacr of Wounded Knee, the massacre of My Lai, but the two WW were really not good examples.

Just goes to show you that the Good Book only does any good if you follow it. Just having it available means nothing. If you don't teach it accept it and live it, it's nothing more than just a book.
If you look at all the self help books we have I could buy them all and have them in my house. But they guarantee nothing. We still have to apply them to our lives and work them out. It's no different with the Bible. We are still responsible to apply the Godly direction in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit and Christ in us.

Out of curiousity, how many Christian Presidents, members of Congress....the people MAKING those decisions, have there been?

Lol, while the Good Book was in our classrooms we didn't start the wars.

Since the Good Book has been out we've started at least one war.

I don't think you can blame the Good Book for any of these.
The point was “bad things happened even though we were doing ‘the right things’”.
And the 2003 unprovoked war against Iraq I lay at the feet of 43.

Are we doing the right things? I think that was the point I was making. Just having the Good Book around doesn't mean squat if you are not following it. Just having it is not really doing the right thing. It's just a nice book under those circumstances. If you are not following it you might as well not even say you have it. What's the point?

And I don't have a clue why you mentioned 43. As if that was relevant to my post.
