  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Genesis 5:24

Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Hebrews 11:5

By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.

2 Kings 2:1

And it came about when the Lord was about to take up Elijah by a whirlwind to heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

1 Corinthians 15:51

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,

1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Corinthians is St Paul explaining that the soul sleep David knew and spoke about [pre Resurrection] no longer existed. [Hades or limbo til Jesus released souls] When we die we rise to Heaven for the first judgment. We will either transform by purging or be transcendent ethereal bodies of light.
Or transform in hell into gawky ugly half animals... which nobody wants .. I hope and pray.

This should give you a general idea what I’m talking about:

Why did God take Enoch and Elijah? The Bible does not specifically give us the answer. Some speculate that they were taken in preparation for a role in the end times, possibly as the two witnesses in Revelation 11:3-12. This is possible, but not explicitly taught in the Bible. It may be that God desired to save Enoch and Elijah from experiencing death due to their great faithfulness in serving and obeying Him. Whatever the case, God has His purpose, and while we don’t always understand God’s plans and purposes, we know that “His way is perfect” (Psalm 18:30).

AMEN lady.

I’m not really sure what you are talking about. I brought up what some things about Elijah and Enoch and what Scripture says about them. Only because this thread is about the series on EWTN about the end times. The two witnesses are a big thing in Protestant circles and some think it is Elijah and Enoch.

Oh I know it's huge for Protestants and mostly Baptists.. and other smaller [N00bs] because many rise up these sects on Revelation alone.
I'm just giving the reply to 'what do you think' and if you're showing what Protestants believe I'm helping with the opposing Catholic perspectives [maybe I don't know for sure] but Revelation is up for grabs and any who say they have absolute knowledge, per these small rising churches and sects, are fooling only themselves.

I agree. It’s a mystery. But coming from a Protestant background, I could not resist bringing it up. ;)

7th Day, JW's and all these new sects all focus on the end times.
So that perspective is intriguing but what I find interesting is their whole focus is the end times.

What if it's not end times but a renewal?
And if not a renewal because free will, then it's possible to end.
BUT how it ends nobody knows.

Jesus even said while in the Flesh He didnt know because the flesh ought not know. Despite Being God, He lowered Himself to be akin as us, except sin to die for us as a perfect sacrifice.

Nobody knows the mind of God, even in His Wisdom He bound up this knowledge in the Flesh. But He does everything perfectly.
Even St John couldn't quite comprehend how humble Jesus was to His own glory in the Flesh.
For he remarked how it was a wonder He didn't make Himself equal.

He became lower than Angels... for our sakes.

The ULTIMATE proof of how humbled He made Himself for our sakes.

100% LOVE.

The JW’s have a myriad of problems. Not just their end time views. I know about those people up close and personal as my mother got involved with them for a time. Very cultish.

O yeah.
Historically they gained following because of end times scares.
And Charles Taze Russell repeatedly prophesied exacting dates and it never happened. The JW's slowly backed away from that part of their founder... but kept up the end times stuff.

Oh, I read about Charles. He was jailed for selling miracle corn that had no miracle effects. He then gained followers after studying with Ellen White the 7th Day Adventist founder. He disagreed somewhat so started his own following.
I think a few times he stated the date of the end and it didn't happen but they kept following him.
At one time in the late 1800's [1862 or 1889? they started] they were initially called Russellettes not JW.

Sordid pasts... a lot of these folks. Ellen White claimed seeing an angel with a new gospel - or a new interpretation.
John Smith a new gospel.

Did these people know the writings of St John giving those 'angels' anathema?
