According the SDA prophet, God is keeping the Sabbath along with His people on Earth. The Sabbath was for 24 hours for the Israelites on Earth, but for God it would have been a 48-hour rest to cover all the people around the Earth. Since the command also said that the Israelites were to labor for six days makes a conundrum in the prophet's story because God would only have a 5-day work week. Any thoughts?

It’s probably not a good idea to question how God does something. If God gives us a commandment He is going to give us the power to be able to keep it. To suggest otherwise is really an attack on God’s character. We shouldn’t question how God does what He says, but instead step out in faith and believe what He asks of us, like keeping the seventh day Sabbath holy Exodus 20:8, is because its for our own good so we can honor God on His holy day Isaiah 58:13, and the Lord wants to bless us when we follow what He asks. Isaiah 58:14

God made the Sabbath for man Mark 2:27 and doesn’t need a day for Him to be holy because He is holy. God doesn’t need a day of rest because He does not tire, it was all for our benefit and the example of man to follow Him because we are made in His image. The Sabbath is a memorial to God for everything He has created for us without us doing anything. The Sabbath is a sign of creation and redemption.

I think the story on the cross is a good example. One theif doubted Jesus the other believed. Their outcomes will be very different. We can learn from this example, so we too don’t make the same mistake.

I've had a similar thought. All of the numbered days in the creation account go like this:

"There was evening and there was morning, the first day."

Evening where? When it is evening in one part of the world, it's high noon in another.

you seem to have lost the point of the text.
I think this is a great opportunity to go over the whole passage. Quoting from he New American Standard Bible:

This is what the Lord says:

“Guard justice and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come
And My righteousness to be revealed.

The first thing Isaiah talks about is justice and righteousness.

Blessed is a man who does this,
And a son of man who takes hold of it;
Who keeps from profaning the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
Bible Gateway passage: Isaiah 56 - New American Standard Bible

Not profaning the Sabbath is closely tied to doing justice. Removing the oppression of the underclasses is a common theme in Isaiah, and related to both the Sabbath and fasting.

I'll pause for a bit. If at any point you (or anyone) disagree, please jump in.
Continuing on in Isaiah 56,

Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak, saying,
“The Lord will surely separate me from his people.”
Do not let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”

Isaiah now introduces two groups, foreigners and eunuchs. God will treat them similarly.

For the Lord says, “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
choose the things that please me,
and hold fast to my covenant,
I will give them in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters.
I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off.

The Sabbath is mentioned again. If eunuchs will keep the Sabbath by doing justice and righteousness, God will reward them greatly. The house of God here, again, is the Temple in Jerusalem. If the synagogues in Acts had a memorial to these eunuchs, I'd be interested in hearing about that.

Peace be with you all.

It’s probably not a good idea to question how God does something.
Says who??? Moses questioned God when God told Moses He was going to destroy all the Israelites and God changed his mind. Remember the story? Might I remind you God did not make us robots SB, we are free to think. The prophet made a statement and I deciphered what she wrote.

If God gives us a commandment He is going to give us the power to be able to keep it.
Then why was it that Israel failed to keep the commands He gave them and them only?

To suggest otherwise is really an attack on God’s character.
Bologna SB, we are all failures otherwise Jesus would not have had to suffer and die for us. Your statement sounds like something you may have read from the SDA prophet, someone whose writings I certainly do not admire.

We shouldn’t question how God does what He says, but instead step out in faith and believe what He asks of us, like keeping the seventh day Sabbath holy Exodus 20:8,
In the first place God has never asked US to keep the Sabbath holy. It is a propagated falsehood to try to indicate that God ever asked US to observe the Israelite Sabbath. By the way I have asked and asked for someone to tell us where God has required another nation of people to observe the Sabbath and not one of you will give me any answer, so US is not a true statement.

is because its for our own good so we can honor God on His holy day Isaiah 58:13, and the Lord wants to bless us when we follow what He asks. Isaiah 58:14
Unless you can prove otherwise, God only asked Israel to keep Sabbath, so His blessing can be received by everyone at any moment. Thank you Jesus.

Why then did your prophet, Mrs. White write that God rests with all Sabbath keepers? Seems like you are denying the prophet.

I think the story on the cross is a good example. One theif doubted Jesus the other believed. Their outcomes will be very different. We can learn from this example, so we too don’t make the same mistake.
The mistake is that you keep indicating that if we do not keep the Sabbath like you do we will be lost. I know you don't actually tell us we are lost, but we certainly do get the drift.

1. Sabbath as a Memorial
Genesis 2:1-3
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Exodus 20:8-11
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

One of the reasons Jesus gives for regularly observing His Sabbath is in reference to the singular monumental event in this world's history—its creation. The Sabbath is a weekly reminder that Jesus created this Earth (John 1:3; Colossians 1:15-17). It is a day to rest from our works just as Jesus rested from His (Hebrews 4:7-10). It is to this very fact of being the Creator that Jesus appeals to over and over in the Scriptures as validation for His claim to being the one and only true God (c.f. 1 Chronicles 16:23-27; 2 Kings 19:15; 2 Chronicles 2:12; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 33:6; 96:5; 102:25-27; 115:15; 121:2; Isaiah 37:16; 40:20; 45:18; Jeremiah 10:12; 27:5; 32:17; 33:2, 3; 51:15; Jonah 1:9; Job 26:7; Acts 4:24; 14:15; 17:24; Revelation 14:7).

Psalm 111:2-4
Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate.

If Jesus says to "Remember the Sabbath," and this remembering is directly connected to the "wonders" of His creation, why is it that people find this something they wish to forget? If one were to develop a hierarchy of the most important events in human history would not the act of creation rank toward the very top? Aside from the life, death and resurrection of the Creator, what other event do you suppose would be more worthy of remembering? Interestingly, even though Jesus nor His disciples ever hinted at any regularly repeating recognition for His resurrection, there are some who insist that we honor Sunday as a resurrection memorial. So while we have no divine command for a weekly remembering of the resurrection (making it a tradition of men), we likewise have no command overturning the weekly remembering of the creation. About this Jesus asks, "Why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?"

2. A Day for Our Benefit
Isaiah 58:13-14
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Through His prophet Isaiah, Jesus portrays His holy day as something to delight in. If Jesus says to delight in His Sabbath I'm certain that there must be a blessing to be obtained by observing the day He blessed.

Mark 2:27
Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man (444 anthropos; human being), not man for the Sabbath.

Not only is the Sabbath affirmed as something to "delight" in, but Jesus Himself takes the opportunity to make it clear that when He made the Sabbath on the seventh day of creation it was made for the benefit of all humanity. The word for man in this text is "anthropos" which means people. Thus the Sabbath is for men and women, Jews and Gentiles, slaves and those who are free. All humanity can delight in the benefits of having a day off to remember their Creator and to rest from their own works.

3. Jesus Kept the Sabbath
Luke 4:16
[Jesus] went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.

It was Jesus's regular practice to assemble together with other believers on the Sabbath day. Leviticus 23:3 says that the Sabbath is "a day of sacred assembly." You can certainly worship God on all days of the week, but the Sabbath is the day Jesus set aside for worshipping with other believers in a corporate setting. It is a day set apart—a "holy day"—on which holy people are to rest from their own works and be blessed on the day that Jesus blessed.

1 Peter 2:21
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Jesus is our example in all things and following the things He did should not give anyone cause for concern. On the contrary, it is in doing those things which Jesus never did and never told us to do which we should seriously question the safety of such position. Keeping the Sabbath is in keeping with following Jesus's steps.

1 John 2:6
Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.

Again, if we are to "walk as Jesus did" it is a simple thing to ascertain that the example He left was to regularly assemble together with believers on the day He personally blessed and continues to make holy.

4. Disciples Kept the Sabbath After the Cross
Luke 23:56
Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

Because Jesus never intended to put an end to the regular seven day cycle He set in motion for humanity's (anthropos) benefit and "delight," Jesus never informed them that it was no longer necessary to observe the Sabbath after His death. This is confirmed by the fact that His closest followers—those who went out of their way to see to His burial preparations—still "rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment." If Jesus did not intend for the Sabbath to be included in His new covenant then He needed to add this to His will before He died. After the death of the Testator nothing can be added or subtracted from that person's will (see Hebrews 9:16-17).

5. Paul Kept the Sabbath

Acts 17:2, 3
As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ,” he said.

After his conversion (recorded in Acts 9) Paul continues his "custom" of going to synagogue on the Sabbath. Not only was this his regular habit but the Bible also records that Paul preached to both Jews and Gentiles on the Sabbath for a year and a half!

Acts 18:4, 11
Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.

So, "Every Sabbath" for a "year and a half" Paul reasons in the synagogue with both Jews and Greeks (i.e. Gentiles). That's a biblical record of 76 Sabbaths in which Paul is preaching to Jews and Gentiles.

1 Corinthians 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

As we would expect from an apostle of Christ, Paul acknowledges that he follows "the example of Christ." Paul's actions testify to the fact that "his custom" of Sabbath observance was the same as the custom of Jesus. Paul then goes on to assert that you should not only follow Christ's example but you should also follow his own example. Are you following the examples left for you by both Jesus and Paul?

6. Gentiles Kept the Sabbath
Acts 13:42-45
So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul.

Some people suggest that Paul was evangelizing to Jews on the Sabbath and what better way to do that then to meet them on the day they all were gathering together? But in this text we see that after witnessing to the Jews in the synagogue that Gentiles begged Paul to preach these words "to them the next Sabbath." So if the Sabbath had ceased as a requirement and blessing of God, if it was not part of the New Covenant, if it was only for the Jew, then Paul need not wait an entire week to minister to the needs of these pleading Gentiles. Why wait seven days when tomorrow would work just fine? After all, as some people believe, the first day of the week is supposedly "the Lord's day"—a day to be honored in remembrance of Jesus's resurrection—so why not preach to them on this newly preferred day? Paul does not take this golden opportunity to inform these Gentiles that the Sabbath is passé and that it is no longer necessary to remember Jesus as the Creator. Instead, as someone who unashamedly "follow the example of Christ," he honors their Sabbath-keeping request.

7. The Sabbath 40 Years After the Cross
Matthew 24:20
Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

Jesus is speaking in reference to the future destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. (40 years after His death). If we consider this admonition from the aspect of keeping the Sabbath holy by not working on it, then the prayer to not have to flee on the Sabbath is easily understandable. Additionally, this text also affirms the continuity of the Sabbath 40 years into the New Covenant.

8. Venerated Title Remains
Matthew 28:1
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

Mark 16:1
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.

Luke 23:54
It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

John 19:31
Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

Each of the four Gospels were written years after the cross. One would expect that if the Sabbath was no longer relevant to New Covenant Christianity that the Gospel authors would've conveyed such in their writings. But Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all maintain uninterrupted use of the venerated title of Sabbath in their Gospels. None of them ever refer to it as the "Sabbath of the Jews," which of course makes perfect sense in keeping with point #2 above (i.e. the Sabbath was made for humanity's benefit). Luke points out certain things as being exclusively Jewish ("country of the Jews," "synagogue of the Jews") but in neither his Gospel nor his book of Acts does he do so to the Sabbath. Since Jesus said the Sabbath was made for people—regardless of race or gender—then the fact that these authors do not attempt to tie it strictly to the Jews is perfectly logical and consistent. This is especially meaningful when one considers their use of this title after the cross. Since they are writing years afterward there should be no reason why they should not know that the Sabbath has been discontinued. All four authors continue to address the seventh day of the week using it's venerated title and all of the remaining days of the week maintain their generic numeral designation.

9. The Sabbath in the New Earth
Isaiah 66:22-23
As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the LORD.

When Jesus first created this world we find that He set in motion His weekly memorial to His creative act by establishing His Sabbath (Genesis 2:1-3). In the "restoration of all things" the Lord will create a "new heavens and a new earth." Will the need to remember Jesus as Creator be any less meaningful or necessary once we are redeemed? Will the Sabbath be any less of a blessing or a "delight"? Since the Sabbath was "made for man" before man became a sinner it is apparent that its value was not based in relation to our sinful condition. Isaiah tells us that in the new earth all humanity will bow down before God "from one Sabbath to another." Jesus is going to hit the divine reset button for this Earth. It is going to be baptized by fire. After burning off all the sin and those who stubbornly held on to it, this Earth will be restored to how it was "in the beginning" and it will be our home as it was originally intended. Since the Sabbath comes to us from the seventh day of the beginning, we see that this special day has been a blessing to humanity from our creation to our ultimate salvation and will continue on throughout eternity.

10. The Sabbath in Languages of the World.
Did you know that there are flood traditions around the world? From Africa to Asia and Australia, from Europe to North and South Americas, the story of a world wide flood is a part of the tradition of the peoples in these areas. This is as one would expect for such a universally destructive event.

But did you also know that the word "Sabbath" can be found in various languages all around the world? This too is what one would expect if the Sabbath was instituted on the seventh day of creation. Just like Noah and the other seven survivors were witnesses to the flood, Adam and Eve would've been witnesses of the first Sabbath and Adam was around for 930 years to share his eye witness account to his progeny.

Here are a few languages that use the word Sabbath for the seventh day of the week:

Greek: Sabbaton (Sabbath)
Latin: Sabbatum (Sabbath)
Spanish: Sábado (Sabbath)
Portuguese: Sabbado (Sabbath)
Italian: Sabbato (Sabbath)
French: Samedi (Sabbath day)
High German: Samstag (Sabbath)
Prussian: Sabatico (Sabbath)
Russian: Subbota (Sabbath)
Congo Africa: Sabbado or Kiansbula (Sabbath)

These are a few examples from our modern languages which still identify the seventh day as the Sabbath. There are a number of ancient languages which also do the same thing. The Babylonian language—dating back to 3800 BC (or shortly after the flood)—identifies the seventh day as "Sa-ba-tu" or Sabbath. Exactly what one would expect to find embedded in this Earth's recorded history.

I pray this helps.

But for the grace of God go I,cyspark

good post.. thanks for that

According the SDA prophet, God is keeping the Sabbath....

so hmmm kind of a "Bible aside ... lets talk about the SDA prophet instead"???

Thanks for more input. Here is the actual quote.

Numbers 28:9-10
On the Sabbath day, present two unblemished year-old male lambs, accompanied by a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, as well as a drink offering. This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Do you think Numbers 28:9-10 confuse me between the daily sacrifices with the Sabbath sacrifices?

According to the Sabbath commandment that Exodus 31:17 and Ezekiel 20:20 state a sign between Him and the Israelites, and when Genesis never instructs anyone to keep it holy even after Adam sinned, Jesus - the descendant of David under the tribe of Judah, does not need to perform the work of the earthly priest of the tribe of Levi in Numbers 28:9-10. Sabbath weekly sacrifices were earthly priests’ duty. We know they still keep that because Mary kept the law of offering sacrifices after giving birth to Jesus in Luke 2:24. Did they keep the law of offering sacrifices? Yes, they did.

Let’s not forget anyone who bears false testimony is also breaking the commandments.

Hope this helps.
It seems like there is no further disagreement with my previous reply. So, this discussion helps us better understand the content of the discussed bible verse. You might want to bring this back for further discussion with your church leadership team, and we will continue our journey with you as fellow brethren as we all practice the same teachings of Jesus (Luke 17:4).

Of course, if you have further insight, please continue to share it with us. Take care.

Since the prophet taught we are saved by observing the law (Sabbath) is it not apropos to bring her into the subject? Shouldn't we all have this information? Especially so since no Adventist is willing to tell the whole story. If indeed, you believe Ellen you believe I am lost. So it seems that is something you all are keeping to yourselves?

The sacrificial laws which include the daily sacrifices for the forgiveness of sin ended at the cross all point to Jesus who because our Sacrificial Lamb. Yes, they sacrificed lambs on the Sabbath and they had daily sacrifices because there was sin daily, but at the cross, Jesus became our sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin and sanctification when we confess our sins and have a changed heart and turn from sin, so we no longer sacrifice animals because Jesus became our sacrifice.

There are no blood sacrifices in the Sabbath commandment Exodus 20:8-11. The Sabbath is part of God's eternal Ten Commandments Exodus 34:28 which is what reveal sin when broken 1 John 3:4, Romans 7:7 and the Sabbath started from Creation Genesis 2:1-3 when there was no sin therefore no need for animal sacrifices for the forgiveness of sin.

The apostles kept the Sabbath day decades after Jesus ascended back to heaven because they were commanded to observe everything Jesus commanded of them. Their example of observing the Sabbath was through prayer, preaching and teaching the Word of God, reasoning with the scriptures which they did every Sabbath and preached to Jew Gentiles and whole cities. There is no scripture in the entire bible that says the Sabbath commandment changed or ended, but instead God's saints keep the commandments of God and faith in Jesus. John 14:12 The saints will continue to worship the Lord on the Sabbath in the New Heaven and New Earth Isaiah 66:23.
and we will continue our journey with you as fellow brethren as we all practice the same teachings of Jesus (Luke 17:4).

Jesus taught the Sabbath was made for man (humans) Mark 2:27 and He kept His Fathers commanemnts John 15:10 Jesus taught to keep the commandments of God over man's traditions Matthew 15:3-9 and Jesus taught not to break the least of the commandments Matthew 5:19 and taught If you love Me keep My commandments John 14:15 which is what God taught Exodus 20:6 becuase Jesus came to do the will of the Father. We are told to follow the example of Jesus 1 John 2:6 who kept the Sabbath and all of the commandments Luke 4:16.

White aside, did God rest for a literal 24-hour period on that first 7th Day?

Isaiah 55
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

He says He rested on the 7th day -- I believe Him.

2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Ex 20:8-11
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 For six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

=============

some people will argue that not believing God -- honors Him way more than believing Him. Ok so then I would differ with them on that idea.

Since the prophet taught we are saved by observing the law

It is entertaining to see you "quote you" and then blame it on someone else -- but I don't find it compelling. You have free will of course and can do that as often as you wish.

Hi Bob, you might as read my reply in post#1221,
Then Icy’s #1313, #1318
mine #1320, #1321
Icy’s #1366
mine #1368 -End-

But feel free to continue from my last post in #1368

Hi Cornelius -

Ok so then from 1368

Gen 2:

The context begins with instruction, how it should be done, quoting references, and concludes using “therefore” to emphasize the instruction, which is not “remember the Sabbath day and the six days of creation.”

Apparently you are mistaken given the content of the text as we read it in Ex 20 and Gen 2

Ex 20
11 "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

Gen 2:
2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

It does not say "therefore you should rest".

#1 – I know the seventh-day sabbath REST in Exodus 20 references the Seventh-day Creation Rest, but is there a commandment to remember the Six Days of Creation? “Remember the Sabbath” in Exodus 20:8-10 refers to that rest day. We do not need a day to remember His creation as no christ-believer would reject the fact that God creates everything. The “Memorial” part sounds like a tradition.

Remember the Sabbath is a direct command from God - not a man made tradition.
In EX 16 "tomorrow IS the Sabbath"
Ex 20 says to remember, to keep it holy, to rest.
Lev 23:2-3 makes it a command to worship and rest on that day.
Is 66:23 says all mankind will be doing that for all eternity after the cross in the new heavens and new earth "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"

That is a command - not merely a man made tradition.

You cannot have 7th day without also having the first 6 days.

#3 – If Luke 4:16 says it is a custom, it is not a commandment,

Luke 4 is not deleting any commandment as Christ points out in Matt 5 - His work was not one of deleting or abolishing commandments.

Luke 4 says that it was His custom - to stand up and read - on the Sabbath. There is no command that all must stand up and read - on the Sabbath.

#4 – Hebrews 9:16-17 is talking about the end of the first covenant. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you (John 14:26).”

Heb 9 is not talking about the end of the old covenant. It is talking about the ratifying of the new covenant.

3 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the violations that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a covenant, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.

#6 – I don’t keep the Lord’s day (Sunday) as well !

No Bible text says week-day-1 is the Lord's Day - but it does tell us that Sabbath "is the Holy Day of the LORD" and it tells us that Jesus is "Lord of the Sabbath". So the "sola scriptura" definition for Lord's Day - is the Sabbath.

My understanding of the Sabbath allows us to do all these, which is the work men do in the Garden.

That is a huge amount of inference and speculation to get to that point. You have free will of course - and can do that as often as you wish but the Bible scholars in almost all major denominations on planet Earth do not choose to go down that road when it comes to not doing any work. The idea that work in the garden is not work if you enjoy it - is a creative bend you suggest for the text but is not actually in it.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea what God did on the eighth day? It surely wasn't work since all of that had been finished at the end of the sixth day.

Christ said both He and His Father are still working

Entering into that rest. In the beginning of the chapter and even in chapter 3 -some could not enter in after they heard the gospel because it was not mixed with faith- unbelief. God's creating the earth in 6 days and resting after that is the example. When we enter into his rest, we cease from our own works. This isn't talking about physical labour. We are talking about "his" rest.

Heb 4 says the Sabbath rest "remains" for the people of God. "Remains from when?"" According to Heb 4 - it remains from what it was at the time of David - in the OT text it quotes. So how was the Sabbath defined in David's day? hmmm - 7th day of the week.

Heb 4 uses it as symbol or type - since it "remains" for something else that also remains - in the promised rest - for all. But if it had been deleted it could not be a symbol for that which remains.
