John chapters 13 through 16 are the Lord's final
instructions to His chosen apostles. The instruction begins
after the washing of feet, showing we must accept and forgive each other.
John 13:
12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?
13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that you should do
as I have done to you.
16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master;
nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples,
if you have love for one another.
If we walk in love to one another, we can ask what we will
of the Father, and He always hears us.
John 14:
12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me,
the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do,
because I go to My Father.
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father
may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do.
Jesus wants us to be a people who ask of the Father,
to know and do His Will. To accomplish this,
He has given us His Holy Spirit, not a Law Code.
15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may abide with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him,
for He dwells with you and will be in you.
The Holy Spirit alone can establish us in this present Truth
23 Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear
is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
And this is the Voice that we must hear and obey,
the Voice of the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17
John 15:
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit;
so you will be My disciples.
