  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has said that since last fall it has received more than 200 tips from people claiming they were victims of or witnesses to fraudulent activity in local elections.

Yet the office has produced only one offense report related to any alleged violations of Kansas election laws since 2020.

So far, the Johnson County District Attorney has received no cases from the sheriff.

The same goes for the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office, the agency responsible for overseeing elections in the state. It said this week that it had received no inquiries from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither have four of the largest police departments in Kansas — Olathe, Overland Park, Lenexa and Shawnee. All said they had received no reports about election-related crimes in the last two years.

This is why so many of us are sticklers about evidence and court rulings, rather than claims and affidavits.

The lone report, dated July 20, lists the Johnson County Election Office as the location of an alleged violation of a Kansas law that makes it illegal to attempt to change, alter or destroy any vote cast by paper ballot or electronic machine.

Reached by phone, a 71-year-old Olathe woman listed as the victim of the alleged violation said she and her husband were casting an early vote on July 19. She declined to provide specifics about the incident.

“I don’t know what happened, if it was just an accident,” she said before declining to discuss the matter further.

Hayden’s office and Johnson County officials, through their spokespeople, declined to discuss the incident.

Well, if you don't like the example in the OP, we can look at another current thread. You presented a claim by Ted Cruz about the 'burn pits' law. Many people in that thread have been asking (for a long time) for the evidence in the text of the law itself as it changed from the one approved 84-14 to the one rejected by the GOP.

some people ask for evidence just because they think they have some kind of entitlement, I do not let those people concern me, I know the game that some people like to play.

It's not entitlement. It's an idea that one should only believe a claim if it is supported by evidence.

There are other reasons one might believe a claim. If it comes from an authority, like a sheriff or a senator. Or if it makes you feel good. Or if it makes you feel mad about something you want to feel mad about. But these are not good reasons to believe things.

I do not let those people concern me, I know the game that some people like to play.

What about the game of claiming there were 200 tips of election fraud when there was only one? It's actually too kind to call it a game, because it is really political propaganda meant to get (or keep) people upset about election fraud. Based on lies. How does one sift between truth and lies? Facts and evidence.

If you make a claim, you shouldn't be surprised if people ask you to support it. If you don't, people will draw conclusions.

It's the new republican mantra.

"There's a word: disinformation. If you say it enough and keep saying it — just keep saying it — and they'll start to believe you," Trump explained.

Ronald Reagan would have tossed that guy out the window.

Speaking about being sticklers for paperwork...

Johnson County Sheriff Calvin Hayden admits his election search warrant was not 'valid’

The sheriff's admission that no judge signed his search warrant for old election ballots came in the middle of a Republican candidate forum. For years, Hayden has claimed he is investigating voter fraud, but his probe has not yielded any charges or evidence.

Sheriff Calvin Hayden admitted this week that the search warrant he said he had “in hand” for old county election ballots had not been signed by a judge and was therefore not valid.

[back and forth at the candidate forum]

Cross-talk and volume escalated, and during it, Kuckelman can be heard asking for the name of the judge who approved the warrant.

“There is no judge,” Hayden said.

“A judge has to sign a search warrant to be valid,” Kuckelman replies in the video.

“I didn’t say it was valid,” Hayden responded.

Only one allegation [presumably the one in OP] has been forwarded to prosecutors related to alleged voter intimidation, but District Attorney Howe said it did not have strong enough evidence to pursue that case court.
