If the owners don't have control over what ads come through this website, why do they allow that to happen in the first place?

Makes no real difference. Owners have seldom been involved that I can remember.

Besides, there’s nothing to stop them claiming they are when they aren’t. See it all the time with posters here, politicians, athletes etc.
