Three dead after man opens fire in Indiana mall, police say shooter killed by 'good Samaritan'

The shooter appeared to have been fatally shot by a 22-year-old "good Samaritan" who witnessed the attack and opened fire with a handgun with the intention of ending the assault, Ison said.

He praised the young man, identifying him only as being from Bartholomew County, south of the metro area.

"The real hero of the day was the Samaritan that was lawfully carrying a firearm who was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as it began," Ison said.

Proves a good guy with a gun doesnt need to roam around with a high capacity military rifle.

This is exactly the sort of good-guy action that would likely survive the gun control Id prefer.

Nobody says it is. But we so often hear of laws that should be
enacted " if just one life is saved".
Several, poosibly dozens have been saved by
people who stood up and took action.

I live in Tulsa, OK - we are a constitutional carry city - no permit or license needed to carry. The ONLY people walking around in tactical gear are SWAT team members.

An unidentified Uber driver was able to stop Everardo Custodio, who was firing into a crowd of people on North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago in April 2015, The Chicago Tribune reported. The driver stopped his car, pulled out a pistol and fired several shots, injuring Custodio. No other injuries were reported and no charges were made against the driver when police learned he had a concealed carry permit.
