  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

June 29 (Reuters) - A growing number of companies, including JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O), Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) and Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) are updating or changing their health insurance policies to offer travel benefits to U.S. employees who may need to access out of state abortion services.

Lots of big name employers on the list. Most large national companies are self-insured. Meaning they’re exempt from state regulation, and can provide their employees with whatever health benefits they like. And I’ll bet more will follow suit.

The rise of abortion travel kinda confirms that the SCOTUS decision will be a full-employment act for abortion providers in permissive states.

Factbox: Companies offering abortion travel benefits to U.S. workers

I think we're gonna see a lot more of this as states try to pass more and more restrictive laws.

It's gonna get really strange when more anti-abortion states try passing laws that target inter-state travel for abortions, or try to press charges against those in other states for aiding or abetting abortions al-a Texas' heartbeat bill.

I wonder if the states rights folks are gonna push back against bills that try to punish people going to other states for this? That seems like it would be encroaching on the rights of other states, no?

Wasn't it the Democrats who fought a bloody war for States rights?

I appreciate the candidness of this statement.

How does the 14th Amendment fit in with your posture on this subject?

True. And don't forget that southern state Democrats also opposed civil rights legislation in the early 60s. Democrats are back to their roots. They now support a state's right to legalize elective abortion.

Yeah, they did.

So what do you think about state's rights? I'm curious to hear your opinion on if a state should be allowed to punish activity in state that has legalized that activity.

I suppose that killing off the child is less expensive than providing maternity leave,

Killing babies seems to be a big win for big business.
Women can still choose to keep their babies.

Maybe we should be asking why so many would rather not.

I believe that the right to life is the most fundamental of all rights; and that it most certainly falls within the Equal Protection Clause.

So we should allow states to punish people in other states for performing the death penalty, since that terminates a life, correct?

Not to take away from this thread but, what are your thoughts on capital punishment? Still a fundamental right to life?

Maybe because if they spend more time at work, they can earn more money, to buy better cell phones. I guess it's a matter of what they've been sold, as their highest priorities.

Kid dies, I get a fancier phone!

Mass media is very persuasive.

It’s not my posture, it’s the one we get to see as soon as a republican congress and president are in office, after that it goes from states rights on abortion to federal ban.

I thought that the death penalty was for vicious murders, like those who would cold heartedly murder a child.

I genuinely don't understand why people treat others like they're emotionless, careless, robots.
If you've talked with people who have gotten abortions, they don't view it like some minor bump in the road. It's not something anyone wants to do just for the heck of it.

So we can make exceptions for the right to life, then?

I still want your opinion on if you'd be ok with a cross-state law like I proposed, if you'd be so kind as to voice that opinion.

Are there any Federal laws against murder? I can't find any; but it's fun to speculate, not that I would ever use a crystal ball.

I have talked to them. It's devastating for them. I suppose that the Ruach HaKodesh is speaking to them on a very deep level.
