Would it have been justified if the Capitol police shot one of the Colbert people?

I don’t know. Were they part of a mob trying to breech a barricaded door?

No?

Then it’s a little bit different.

There were real mobs looting and burning and looting, destroying property and assaulting, to included members of BLM and Antifa. And there have been real threats by politicians, a threat against a Supreme Court Justice that he will "pay the price." When you throw out our United States Constitution, and decide that due process, equal treatment under the law, is no longer valid and justice will only be given to those who go along while injustice is doled out against political opponents, that is a real attack on our nation. People are sick of the elites forcing the populace to suffer in order to meet their radical agenda, dispensing out punishment for those who dare speak out against them, treating the innocent the same as the guilty.

Sounds fascinating. Why not start a thread about it?

a) Charges based on guilt by association rather than proof the person actually was doing something illegal. e.g. the trespassing charges are heavily mitigated based on circumstantial stuff like if the police actually do wave people through etc.

Cite one case.

Is this thread for real? Are people actually comparing the Jan 6th protestor with staff from The Late Show? I guess I have to lower my expectations even further...

What I'm inferring from your post is that when BLM violently "speak(s) out against" one group of "elites forcing the populace to suffer", it's bad. But when a bunch of white Republicans violently "speak out" against a different group of "elites," acting on nothing but mass delusion and fraud, it's okay.

Is that about the jist of things?

I'm for equal treatment under the law, as per the United States Constitution, and unfortunately too many in the government who have usurped power are not.

It's insane. I have no problem with the crew getting busted for trespassing, but implying that this:

is equivalent to this:

is delusional.

And that's why you just cannot have a discussion with some people: There is no concept of "false equivalencies".

Yes there are two big problems

1) There is a lot of McCarthyism stuff going on.

a) Charges based on guilt by association rather than proof the person actually was doing something illegal. e.g. the trespassing charges are heavily mitigated based on circumstantial stuff like if the police actually do wave people through etc.

b) There was a bad problem of people being held months without a court hearing. That is actually against the Constitution!

c) Nancey Pelosi is now in charge with running the Capitol police and this includes such details as controlling stuff like video footage and other kinds of reports and well she seems to be only interested in releasing footage etc. that is favorable to her side rather than everything what the Republicans would want (because if you have footage that actually shows police letting in people that is much less damning than what they are trying to achomplish).

d) In a number of recent events going on the Feds seem to have their fingers in the mix when it comes to things like entrapment etc.

I'm talking about character's like Ray Epps this 60m year old Arizona Marine. Their are lots of left leaning articles "fact checking" the "Conspiracy theory" that feds were involved. Basically that the Feds were trying to poison the Trump well, similar to Comey doing his stuff when Trump took office. But this is the kicker..... IF you truly care about the Capitol security, finding the truth etc. Then why would you let someone go, or not prosecute someone who literally is inciting a mob?

All the circumstantial stuff around the Epps story is just screwed up and doesn't make when you see how they do everything in their power twist everything Trump said on that day as being an act of treason etc.
Had to do a little digging to find footage of Epps without any cussing. This video is good because it is short and shows him whispering in the ear of a MAGA hat person in the crowd just before they push down the barricade (one of the big things that made the riot happen).

Has anyone looked for confirmation and further details of this story from other sources? I have. Here are some more facts about this event:

Earlier in the day, the CBS staffers were conducting interviews that were authorized and pre-arranged by congressional aides. After leaving the members' offices where the authorized interviews were conducted, the crew stayed in the building to film standups and other final comedy elements in the halls when they were detained by Capitol police. They were reportedly escorted out of the building earlier in the day but had re-entered by an aide to Auchincloss who believed they had more interviews to conduct. They just stayed around there filming too long. They were rightly detained by capital police and escorted out of the building. This comes amid heightened sensitivity around unlawful or unauthorized access to congressional buildings and came as the third public hearing by the House panel investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection concluded.

In an attempt to minimize the seriousness of the January 6th insurrection, the far right media has jumped at the chance to compare that insurrection with a CBS film crew doing their job.

pfffft.

Pathetic. Fully pathetic that right wing media tries to do something with this.

The Stephen Colbert producers and staffers arrested for trespassing at a House office building haven’t done any favors for Democrats stoking outrage over the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Seven people working for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” were arrested and charged with unlawful entry after being caught unescorted at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday by U.S. Capitol Police in the Longworth House Office Building.

The staffers were reportedly allowed back into the Longworth building by an aide to Rep. Jake Auchincloss, Massachusetts Democrat, according to Fox News, after being denied credentials for the select committee hearings and told by Capitol Police to leave.

Democrats put in ‘awkward position’ as Stephen Colbert staffers charged with illegal entry
They did not break the door down and start chanting, “Hang Pence,” Like the Trump supporters on Jan. 6.

"Parity" is a word that a lot of Republicans I know apparently have never heard of...

The more enthusiastic parts of Trump support became a cult long ago. There is no logic any more, just partisanship.
