  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The rise in gas prices has always been part of Biden's plans

President Biden's first actions would include killing off the Keystone pipeline and creating stringent regulations that began choking America's energy independence.

Keystone would have zero impact on today's gasoline supply issues.

edit - I'll go with "almost negligible"

Keystone XL, an expansion of an existing North American pipeline, would have carried 830,000 barrels of crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to Nebraska daily at its peak. At the time Mr. Biden halted its construction, the $8 billion expansion was only about 8% complete, according to Reuters.

Yet many experts agree that moving ahead with the pipeline wouldn't have prevented U.S. gas prices from climbing to a record high. Expanding the Keystone would have increased global oil production by less than 1%, an amount, they explained, is "almost negligible."

"I can see why people make that connection," Nemet said."But in terms of gasoline prices and global oil prices, it's just something it's better to just ignore because it would have no impact."

Could the Keystone XL pipeline help lower U.S. gas prices?

Which has zero to do with the information in this thread showing gas price rising has always been part of Joes plans.

You have yet to provide evidence to back this assertion.

Don't blame me for your inability to provide specifics...
All the specifics in the world are in this thread; you just have to be willing to read them....can't help you there.....

I don't see any specifics cited by you...only ideological talking points.

If you mean it's always been a consequence of President Biden's plans, I'll agree.

But the more the right whines over it like this, the more I get this image of Biden sitting at the Resolute Desk holding a white Persian cat, about to push a button that opens the trapdoor to drop Jennifer Granholm into a piranha tank because gas isn't yet at $10/gal....

...it gets difficult to take such criticism seriously... and more difficult to find the motivation to.

Right. Your interpretation thereof. The thread title implies that Joe Biden planned to raise gas prices. That's simply not true.

Short article giving example of emergency powers act:
Emergency Powers

...we'll see where this is going. I'm skeptical that even with emergency powers, a president can do much to influence the behavior of global oil corporations...

You know who the most vocal over this is?

The poor and middle class followed by minorities from both parties plus independents. It is why joes approval numbers are in the toilet.

OTOH I think your description of Joe is how he views himself also.

...and I agree, it spells trouble for President Biden in 2024 unless at least one of two things happen:

1. He turns things around (with or without the help of Congress)

and/or

2. The opposition party chooses to rally behind a candidate of its own who turns out to be such a worthless pile of redundant protoplasm that President Biden, President Harris... or even President Skroob would be a more palatable choice for the moderates on both sides.

Last I checked, both options are still well within the realm of possibility.

What about the 75,000,000 and growing citizens that believe a 'worthless pile of redundant protoplasm' would be a better choice than either Joe or Kamala?

He said, "I want you to look at my eyes. I guarantee you. I guarantee you. We're going to end fossil fuel."
Okay he actually planned to eliminate fossil fuels. High gas prices are just the result.

Do you think uncle joe knew that would happen?......or did he expect gas prices to stay in the $2 range while he created biden administration shortages?

I think he did what he was told to do. I don't think he does much on his own. When he does speak on his own his staff come behind him and correct what he said.
