  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Judge Demands Trump Org Quit Stalling on Turning Over Evidence
After more than two years of the Trump Organization refusing to fully turn over evidence of alleged financial fraud to the New York state attorney general, a court-mandated auditor will now have to provide detailed reports of just how much is left.

LINK

New York Attorney General Letitia James asked a New York court on Thursday to hold former President Donald Trump in civil contempt for allegedly failing to comply with a court order that he turn over certain documents for her investigation.

State Judge Arthur Engoron in February had ordered Trump to "comply in full" with the attorney general's subpoena seeking documents and information. Engoron also ruled that Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump should comply with the attorney general's subpoenas for testimony, but the Trumps are appealing that decision.

New York Attorney General Letitia James asked a New York court on Thursday to hold former President Donald Trump in civil contempt for allegedly failing to comply with a court order that he turn over certain documents for her investigation.

Former President Donald Trump is in civil contempt of court for flouting an order to comply with New York Attorney General Letitia James’s subpoena, a judge ruled on Monday. Trump must pay $10,000 a day until he has shown compliance with the judge’s order.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron found that there was no admissible evidence that Trump has been compliant.

Donald Trump swears he has lost four of the cellphones subpoenaed by NY Attorney General Letitia James
Former President Donald Trump swears he cannot find four personal and business cellphones that New York's Attorney General has demanded for her probe of the Trump Organization, according to a new court filing.

"I am not aware of its current location," and "I do not know its current whereabouts," Trump says repeatedly of his most recent business phone, two old flip phones, plus a Samsung that he had used until "it was taken from me at some point while I was president," according to the filing.

He could always find his phone at 5.00am to tweet -IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Where could he have left it?

I have a similar problem with my reading glasses. So far they have always turned up in one or other of three places. Might I suggest Trump looks on the mantelpiece, under the cushions on sofa in the front room and in his dressing gown pocket - in that order?

I would almost guarantee that they can be found in the same place as missing e-mails of Hilary Clinton.

He's also lost track of former employees.

Donald Trump explains why he can't find so many of the former secretaries NY AG Letitia James wants to hear from
  • A lawyer for Donald Trump revealed why he could not find 12 former executive assistants.

  • Most would not return phone calls, the lawyer swore in an affidavit to the NY AG on Friday.

[The AG] wants them to swear out affidavits explaining the process they used to organize and preserve Trump's personal business records, scant few of which have been produced for the AG's probe.

Desperate or what? This on the level of homework excuses.

'Where's your homework, Donald?'

'The dog ate it.'
better yet where is the evidence against Trump, sounds like Trump is not going to do the homework for someone else. Hey I got a court case against you and you need to provide all my evidence for me.

If you say so.

Where is the evidence that his books are crooked? Or that Trump has any responsibility for the errors or misstatements in the books of his corporation. sounds like unsubstantiated accusations in a nation where people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

From the same source-

Trump also swears in the filing that he has no additional personal business documents to turn over to the AG's probe — and that he does not own or use a business computer.

He's the boss. He owns the company. Everything in it is his; the desks, the chairs, the carpets and curtains - and the computers. Who believes that the Trump organisation has no computers?

To be fair, I can imagine a lot of Donald's ex employees wouldn't care to return his calls. I mean, he is a guy who got his own personal lawyer thrown in jail. Imagine how well he treats less important underlings.

Looking at it objectively, the fact that he cannot be expected not to lie at every opportunity actually is his best defence. I did some freelance interpreting years ago in the courts, mainly for cases involving gangs involved in various kinds of crime. They almost always lied about everything, not just the direct lies you might expect, but everything and anything. Everything was a lie. It was pretty effective in almost endlessly extending the legal process as they even lied to their own counsels, so whatever they said would be contradicted and the case would be adjourned (again). Trump employs the same tactic - he lies to such an absurd degree the normal legal process is thrown into confusion. He wins cases, or at least avoids outright convictions, in this way. It’s pretty effective.

Yeah, imagine Hillary having a rally and getting everyone to chant "Lock him up!". That would be pretty bad and anti-American wouldn't it?

That's how a subpoena works... when the judge signs it, you comply... or else.

Is Donald above the law?

First things first... where are the books?

Or that Trump has any responsibility for the errors or misstatements in the books of his corporation.

...or that Donald has any responsibility for anything whatsoever...

You want him to run the country like a business; observe how he runs his businesses.

sounds like unsubstantiated accusations in a nation where people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

It sounds to me as if Trump will be found in contempt of court. There must be serious consequences for that.

In the UK a court can summarily have you arrested and detained in prison until the contempt is purged. That would mean compliance with the court's demands.

I dare say that is a piece of English law that was emulated in American law.

How do you think white collar crimes get investigated?

Or perhaps white collar crimes arne't important?
