Yes I would also.. be so nice to see someone fresh but.. on both sides who is there? No who stands out like they care about America? Here we are again seems someone has to make America great again. We are not right now and most of the world just laughs at us

What I would like to see is a Moderate Republican (like a Charlie Baker or Larry Hogan or Chris Sununu or Bill Weld) run.
I agree with these guys and I'd even take Mitt Romney or John Kasich.

But I have to concede that he was better than Hillary would have been.
How could possibly know that? What did Hilary do when she was not president that made you concede that she would have been a worse president than Donald?
Would she have picked better or worse people for the Supreme Court? How could you possibly know that? What did Hilary do when she was not president that would allow you to form any opinion on that?

Trump, on his social media site, Truth Social, posted Thursday morning: “The Pennsylvania Oz race is ridiculous. How long does it take to count votes. France, same day all paper, had VERIFIED numbers in evening. U.S. is a laughingstock on Elections. Stop FINDING VOTES in PENNSYLVANIA! RIGGED?”

A day earlier, Trump urged Oz to declare victory before more votes can be counted. Oz has not taken that advice.

“It’s concerning because it’s statements like that that lead to threats against election officials. It’s the same game plan he used in 2020, so I’m not surprised,” said Seth Bluestein, a Republican city commissioner in Philadelphia. “The most important thing we can do is be as transparent as possible, continue to build those relationships so there is a degree of trust between us and the people observing the election.”

You can't tell. I lived in California when Earl Warren was a reliably hard-core right wing Governor. When he retired from that job, Eisenhower appointed him Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Surprise! Warren went on to lead the Brown v. Board decision, one of the most serious blows the courts have ever struck the Religious Right.

It would be a mistake to try to appease Democrats with a weak Republican nominee… it will not work anyway, and a weak, no backbone Republican couldn’t clean up this trainwreck if they did get elected.

Given a choice, would you prefer a Republican who can govern competently or one who will subvert the norms?

I’d hardly call what we’ve got now the norm. It’s being called everything from a dumpster fire to a trainwreck. As I said before, those who hate Trump so bad would do well to put in ear plugs and enjoy the ride.

What we have now is a president, who like all of his predecessors....except one, honored the governing norms of our country.

I love my country and the Constitution. And I won't sit back and watch a man like Donald Trump destroy it.

Other than hurting some feelings on the left and revealing some deep-seated hatred for republicans, and just considering governance, policies, security, and well-being, he did much less to harm our country's real norms (helped imo) than what we've experienced in the last 16 months. I just can't understand people's thinking. I'm not proud of this, but I was a democrat before he came along. I don't think there was another republican I could have supported, but I felt he made sense and now I know he did... for sure.

??? why were you a democrat before ??
Grew up that way, like a lot of people I suppose, but gradually started paying more attention and realized they didn't really represent my thinking on issues any longer.

So, not the competent one?

In his four years Trump upset a lot of liberals, yes, but we were a lot better off than we are now and he didn't wreck the country... I'd call that competent.

I was a Democrat way back. The Party shifted underneath me. It was the party of the little guy. Then it became the party of abortion, the antithesis of being the party of the little guy. Now it's the party of the woke, the more extreme the better. And the last pro-life Democratic Congresscritter, Dan Lipinski, was defeated by the woke machine. It's a different Party than when Kennedy or Humphrey or even Gene McCarthy were around.

I became a Republican for a while, before Trump. It was odd, but not as crazy and wrong-headed as being a Democrat would have been.

Well put… and basically the same story for me. I too had left the Dem Party before Trump (changed to independent during the Obama years), but just couldn’t identify as a republican until Trump came along, when I changed my registration again. My mom (a lifelong democrat) also changed to republican at the same time, and she passed away before covid, still a staunch supporter. The rest of my family, all democrats (and still are), continually asked why I changed. My answer was generally always brief (just liked his message) because I knew that like so many others they were just democrats, no matter what, disliked Trump and would never consider the message or change from the personal ideals ‘they’ had of the Dem Party, when in actuality it had already changed and left them behind. They still refuse to put the glasses on, even in this trainwreck.
