• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

in 2019, woke up not feeling well & had husband take me to local EMS
they did EKG & said they had to take me to ER by ambulance

my heart is wacky & been trying to get a Dr ever since as I called some heart specialists who won't take me unless referred

Dr situation is horrible here & no one seems to want to take on a new pt, not even husband's Dr who says he has too many pts
one place I called wks ago & transfers me to new pt line but they NEVER answer & never call back

widened my search & found a Dr an hour away
took first avail appt which is in December!

so I have to wait months & who knows how long the wait will be for specialist once referred
all the while I often have chest pains and SO tired/worn out I can barely walk
I don't know if my heart will give out before my Dr appt

it's very frustrating

not to panic you but I lost someone close to me with similar issues, I strongly suggest you go to the best hospital in your area as soon as possible. I will pray for you.

I was at hospital in 2019 re first post
they do nothing except run expensive tests

even though the EMS gave hospital the EKG they did, hospital did another & did an expensive CT scan of my head

if I had been feeling well, would have questioned it/said no
think they zapped me too much cause ever since, I've been losing my hair & have to wear a hat everywhere

there was no one else in the ER that day & think they were doing tests on me just to make money
then they just let me go home

If you have a medical university in your state, it might well be worth the trip. The medical university in my state found things that had been miss diagnosed for years by major hospitals.

:heart:Prayers:praying:

What general area of the world do you live in? I live in the Northeast USA. I have a friend who needed a primary care physician. He contacted a new practice and had an appointment within a week. Most of the people accepting new patients are nurse practitioners or physician's assistants. But they can do the same basic stuff, like refer you to a specialist.

Some of the Urgent Care facilities in my area also offer primary Care services.

(I have a heart condition, too. I'm scheduled to have an ablation next week, if the insurance company approves it in time. :) )

:heart:Prayers again:praying:

Do you have clinics in your area? Like Zoom care? If not, you should go to the ER.

As I posted earlier, when I went to ER in 2019 all they did was run expensive tests and then send me home.
They is no point in going to ER.

Plus the hospitals are still full of covid patients. Too risky to go to hospital now.

Thanks for your suggestion & concern, however.

If you have a primary M.D., Mama2one, who knows you well over the years and does annual check-ups, he/she can advise you and refer you to the appropriate specialist. Various specialist M.D.s will always send a report back to your primary care physician. I use a Internal Medicine physician who has my whole history over many years and knows how to get things taken care of for me by specialists he knows.

Google to find out what the highest rated hospital in your area is, then go there, you need to see a specialist, those specialists are either at that hospital or associated with it.

I'm going to get one of these:

AliveCor

It could be your symptoms aren't heart related at all. Usually if they find something dangerously wrong with your heart during those tests they act on it pretty fast. I've had what seems like a heart condition for close to 20 years that's put me in the hospital once and ER several times. But there's nothing wrong with my heart itself. It's some kind of syndrome they haven't pinned down. My EKG readings have had some sort of anomaly, but apparently it's not life threatening.

I wonder why the EMS said my EKG wasn't normal then in 2019?

I was having some chest pain a bit ago but I took a couple of baby aspirin & pain stopped

it was a stressful day

I've concluded my chest pains are probably gastric. I get gastric chest pains, which cases me to stress, which triggers gas building up, which causes more chest discomfort. I always take an aspirin when that happens. But I wonder if that just causes a placebo effect.

interesting cause when I took the 2 baby aspirin, the chest pain stopped

I do have a lot of stress so maybe it's just stress for me
when I was at my writing class last week, my heart was racing but I was nervous before reading my writing piece

Mine isn't normal either. But apparently it's never caused my cardiologists any concern in the long run. They did a bunch of just in case tests. A series of which I just had recently. And the cardiologist said the results were very encouraging. As a matter of fact the last time I was on a 24hr two week halter monitor EKG, I experienced a "ventricular tachycardia" which is indicative of heart / cardiovascular disease. But my echocardiogram stress test and my nuclear medicine stress test done within a couple of months of each other showed no cardiovascular disease or any signs of ever having any kind of heart attack.

Now I'm not saying to not follow through on any and all tests you can get done. I'm just sharing my experiences of having "heart problems" that have never shown up as actual heart problems.

One thing I'll add is that since I was put on a beta blocker, I haven't had any issues for over a year. My 6 years older brother happens to have the same problems and history, and his was fixed by being put on a calcium channel blocker. Although he does have A-Fib. But they've never detected me having A-Fib.

I think I might have Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome, or something similar.
