From your link:

"Must have been accelerated," indeed.

Creation Science 101: When in doubt, snap your fingers and demand God perform a miracle for your convenience.

...especially when the facts are decidedly inconvenient. Also from your link:

?

Pretty much the definition of intellectual dishonesty.

Whether yec and god etc is true or not-

For believers, ICR, DI, Jim and Tammy etc are false friends

I think y'all are missing the point of posting that link. I was pointing out that the YEC claims in the RATE project are deceptive. The average person who just reads this stuff would not know.

If you meant Jim and Tammy Bakker, they were married at one time.

And in case you don't know it, Tammy died in 2007.

I don't know what they have to do with the discussion. He went to prison and last time I checked he was back on television.

You forgot Peter Popoff. There will always be wolves in sheep's clothing. The Bible warns us about them.

That's what the YECs who print this stuff are counting on.

They are starting with the premise that the earth is 6,000 years old then trying to make all the evidence fit that. They hurt their own cause by publishing stuff like this. No wonder there is a such a disdain for some of them on this forum.

Just out of curiosity, Lee, what method of creation do you subscribe to?

I believe in biblical creation but I never bought into the idea that the earth is only 6,000 years old.

Only if their cause had anything to do with finding the truth.

But they are convinced that they already have it -- as you said, they are starting with their premise...

Their "cause," as I have said before, is to collect followers, not facts. So they publish stuff like this, and two things happen:

1: the faithful lap it up. Obvious win.

2: the scientific community eviscerates it -- as they always do to junk science. Then the YECs howl "persecution!" and play the martyr card -- which is also a win for them, because of course, non-YEC science is a satanic conspiracy against true Christians, don't you know...

No wonder there is a such a disdain for some of them on this forum.

Well-earned disdain.

Gotcha.

Same here!

Well ... I take that back.

I was a YEC for a few years.

But some things just didn't make sense to me.

Would you kindly tell him how many years ago you believe the Earth was created?

for the sake of argument, I use Ussher's dates and say the earth was created 23 October 4004 BC.

I liked some of their material and believed the claims about radiometric dating and geology. But I didn't fully buy into it

The biggest thing I agree with them about, is the fact that the earth has been in existence since 4004 BC.

But I have to admit, I cringe when people say "six thousand to ten thousand."

Ten thousand is almost twice as long as the Bible accounts for.

Science starts with observation then asks what. It is open to questioning which never stops and it changes based on new information.

Creationism starts with answers (beliefs) and interprets observations to fit those answers. It is not open to questioning and does not change no matter what new information is discovered.

Different religions have different creation stories none of which are the same as Genesis.
