  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One version of the problem of evil I have seen posed by unbelievers many times is, "If God is all powerful, why didn't He create a world where nothing bad happens?"

Has anyone who's asked that question considered how such a world would be structured?

Adam made a choice to open us to the full knowledge of good and evil. Welcome to that world.
As to how such a world would be structured, we can only gain insights from the prophets who
describe the age to come. Of course, they were more concerned with the spiritual aspects.

2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth
in which righteousness dwells.

Since He has promised to make "all things new", this should be beyond our speculation.
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

We gain some insights in Christ, but we see the age to come "through a glass".
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Everyone has their own idea of "nothing bad". And that's the problem. Some think that being drugged to the eyeballs legally is a good thing. Some think doing whatever they please likewise is ideal. The problem is that "nothing bad" and living as a normal human being are incompatible. God gave a set of rules that, if followed, would bring about utopia. No one is able to follow God's rules, even if they wanted to.

So what would an ideal world look like? The garden of Eden. God did not mess up. Man did.

True, so most will then make an appeal to the extremes. It seems to me there are other issues as well.

Since the thread was moved to a "Christians Only" forum, it won't serve its purpose now, which asked unbelievers a question. Thanks to those who answered, but as far as I'm concerned, the thread is dead.
