Hi everyone,

I have a question that could need advice If that’s ok.

So as we know,Satan attacks believers relentlessly, and seemingly he leaves unbelievers alone because he’s already won them over and they don’t have the Holy Spirit. So he attacks believers who are allied with God and leaves the unbelievers who aren’t allied with God alone and gives them up to their lusts and fleshly desires.
So does Satan only/always attack believers?

I’m going to go with no. First, please allow me to say this: it’s not that Satan had to win over unbelievers because they were already born into his kingdom (see Ephesians 2:1-3). However, he likely intends on keeping them as citizens of his kingdom so he will continue to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) to get them to hell prior to making a decision for Christ. Plus, like Abel’s brother Cain, any thing that honors God will likely make him angry—including simply being created in the image of God. Therefore, even a mass shooting that only takes one or two Christian teammates of the field will make him happy because the other twenty or so he hated, too.

Unbelievers go through awful abuses by the evil one as well. If you've ever met an unbelieving victim of oppression, crime, or abuse, you've met someone who was a victim of the evil one by proxy. If the person has an occult abuse background, there might be some direct victimizing as well.

Everyone in the NT who had demons that needed to be driven out was an easy example of direct victimization by the evil one.

Here's a few:

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

"...for their minds have been blinded by the god of this age, leaving them in unbelief. Their blindness keeps them from seeing the dayspring light of the wonderful news of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the divine image of God." II Cor 4:4

"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:" Eph 2:2

Believers are attacked with different objectives. The malicious desire to harm and oppress remains, though since damnation of an oppressed Christian isn't something they can pull off, they do want to at least contain the good that the Christian can do.

That’s something that I am encountering.Satan constantly is placing thoughts in my mind about issues inside the church and faith, like what theology is correct, who and who isn’t is a false teacher, issues regarding some of Gods actions in the Old Testament. And all these thoughts are accompanied by the thought that says “maybe I should give up” and it always downspirals me into anxiety over apostasy.

Everytime I try to speak with fellow Christians wether it be online or in person I’m always bullied with the thought to tell them I’m not a Christian anymore,it’s like a fear barrier preventing me from communication.
I’ve also been attacked with something similar to what Jesus was tempted with,he was tempted to bow to Satan and he would receive riches.I was tempted with on the other hand to now to him and he’d “cure my ocd” of course I saw straight through this lie and rebuked it.Another one was a lie saying God was the bad guy and Satan was the good guy, once again I saw straight through this lie.

im only asking because,like I said,it brings comfort,in a sad and desperate way,to know I’m a Christian if I’m being attacked.

"Because of the distress that people with scrupulosity feel, they often turn to others for reassurance and help. While seeking out support and talking to others about our problems is quite healthy in most cases, for a person with OCD/scrupulosity, reassurance seeking is a compulsion and makes the obsessions worse.

Remember how the obsessive-compulsive cycle works: obsessions make anxiety go up (e.g., worrying that one has blasphemed the Holy Spirit) and compulsions (e.g., confessing and seeking reassurance from others) bring anxiety down. Unfortunately, many of the people trying to help scrupulous individuals become part of the problem instead of being part of the cure.

Because, on the surface, scrupulosity looks like a spiritual problem, it is all too easy for Elders/ministers, friends, and family to give advice and recommend Bible verses, prayers, etc. in a way that actually accelerates the OCD/scrupulosity and causes more distress to the person.

While the scrupulous person may get momentary relief from getting reassurance, in the long run, reassurance makes the obsessions stronger and more distressing. It is very important that people trying to help a scrupulous person be educated about OCD/scrupulosity in order to learn how to best provide support and help to the person." - The ‘Overactive Conscience’ Part 3- Dealing With It – ACCFS (accounseling.org)

The more you feed the OCD by playing into it, the worse it gets, or it stays as bad as it already is. It's kind of like if a person had OCD about their appearance. They would feel better for a moment to ask someone and hear them say they look good. But really, they are letting that insecurity grow/maintain its size by letting it be the center of their conversations. Now when they see that person again, they are likely to think, "Oh, yeah, I asked them if my style was okay yesterday. They said it was fine. My hair isn't the same today though. I could look awful. I better ask them to get their opinion." It creates a cycle.

No.

spiritualizing psychological issues results in more mental illness.

Intrusive thoughts are Not a direct satanic attack, any more than a broken leg is a direct satanic attack.
Mental illness is like covid, or bubonic plague an illness, a serious illness but still an illness.
Medication, therapy, tactics for dealing with intrusive thoughts as well as basic theology wil all help you.

We have to face the reality that this world is fallen, is cursed and that for us perfection will only be in heaven, so just as an amputee has to live now with the loss of a limb, while looking forward to having a complete body in heaven.
You have to face living with OCD untill you are given a new pefect body and mind when you meet Jesus.

Considering that unbelievers become demon possessed, I'd say Satan attacks them too. God loves everyone, so conversely Satan hates everyone.

Hi everyone,
..So does Satan only/always attack believers?

Nope..:)
For example satan even had the gall to try to attack the disciples-
Jesus said- "Satan wanted to sift you like wheat" (Luke 22:31)

He likes to sift (read) our minds in order to pick up on any little weaknesses or character flaws we might have so that he can zero in on them and try to inflame them and blow them up out of all proportion to sabotage us.
This pic of satan in Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' illustrates him perfectly, always slyly lurking and watching, plotting and scheming to try to get a foothold in our minds-

satan-passion.jpg

Christians can sense when he's trying to sabotage them and guard against him-
"Don't give the devil a foothold" (Ephesians 4:27)
"Resist the devil and he'll flee from you" (James 4:7)

But atheists are easy meat for his prompting because they don't believe he exists which is why they're usually jumpy and irritable because he's got inside their heads.

There, he's making you anxious, jumpy and irritable, it's what he DOES, so don't give him the satisfaction..:)
Jesus is a great role model for us all-
Jesus said "Satan has no hold on me" (John 14:30)

Christians have mindmelded with God and Jesus and got them inside their heads-
"I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you" (John 14:20)

rel-jes-mindmeld.jpg

So Christians are very tough customers for satan to try to crack..:)

What form does your obsessive compulsive disorder take? Is it seriously disrupting your life?
Satan would naturally want you to think it's a very serious thing in order to try to make you unhappy-
Jesus said-"..there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44)
