  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

People have kids at a wide range of ages, but the moments tend towards where we are in life. There are social norms and biological norms. Based on data from the National Center for Health Statistics, we can see how these ranges shift by child number.

It won't be her first child—she had twins at 21—but if we're able to have kids she'll be at least 39 when that child is born. I just pray that if it be God's will for us to have kids, that both mom and baby remain in perfect health.

My mom was 33 when she had me and 37 when she had my sister, both of us were completely healthy. So it's not impossible! The doctors had even told my mom she should abort my sister because they detected some kind of severe disability or life threatening disease, I can't remember what. My mom refused and my sister has always been perfectly healthy throughout her life. Not a single issue.

Was just talking to a colleague and found out all his great-grandparents are alive... and they're only in their 70's!
Are they from the south? That’s pretty common there.

For my wife,
#1 @ 24,
#6 @ 33 &
#10 [last] @ 40.

May God bless your wife, abundantly, in her vocation as Mother.

It is quite impressive to me, whenever I learn these days of Mothers of many children.
Motherhood (at any age) is potentially one of the most self-less professions in our society ...
often one of the most underrated ...
and yet, it is one of the most important.

Man that's wild, my dad is going to be 75 this year... to think some people's great-grandparents are his age blows my mind.

That's unreal, but then that's what mankind did for centuries up until about 100 years ago.

She was very, very poor. Her mother was an Indian woman in an abusive marriage. Or so they thought. He had another wife as well. She became very ill with cancer and my grandmother fell in love and got married with her mother’s blessing. Back then the lifespan was shorter so it was not all that uncommon in the south.

Sounds similar to pre-modern times, like the Medieval and Renaissance ages.

Pretty crazy... I mean, they are from a very small town (technically a village) in the mountains of British Columbia, so it is in keeping with the rural trend. He's got a little over 100 relatives on his mother's side alone!

I knew a gal who took her 14 yr old son to Kentucky to marry him off. But, Kentucky officials said you'd have to be from Kentucky for that and sent her packing back to Michigan.
