  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw fake electors plot in 7 states - CNNPolitics

Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw efforts in December 2020 to put forward illegitimate electors from seven states that Trump lost, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the scheme.

The sources said members of former President Donald Trump's campaign team were far more involved than previously known in the plan, a core tenet of the broader plot to overturn President Joe Biden's victory when Congress counted the electoral votes on January 6.

Giuliani and his allies coordinated the nuts-and-bolts of the process on a state-by-state level, the sources told CNN. One source said there were multiple planning calls between Trump campaign officials and GOP state operatives, and that Giuliani participated in at least one call. The source also said the Trump campaign lined up supporters to fill elector slots, secured meeting rooms in statehouses for the fake electors to meet on December 14, 2020, and circulated drafts of fake certificates that were ultimately sent to the National Archives.

"We fought to seat the electors. The Trump campaign asked us to do that," Meshawn Maddock, co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, said at a public event last week that was organized by the conservative group Stand Up Michigan, according to a recording obtained by CNN.

Will people ever learn that unidentified and unnamed source are indicative of a false narrative, funny how foolish people believe any thing that fits their needs.

There are two direct statements in the article, from two named individuals, from two different states, that they were coordinating with the Trump campaign on this.

What rule would that be? Your asserted opinion?
Do you truly not understand that post? I will explain: just because you can find one time that something was true does not make it true beyond that one time. Clear now?

Oh, do you not understand my response? Just because you claim it is a rule that unnamed sources mean it is false that is not the case.

While one event does not mean that all subsequent events will be the same, a record of repeated events of the same type establishes a pattern of behavior.

Please show us your list of major news stories in which no anonymous sources were used. As a bonus you could also explain what it is in your extensive experience of journalism that makes you the one journalist out there unwilling to cover for your sources. While you’re it you could also consider not making any more trite and silly statements about something you clearly know nothing about.

There was not all that long ago people called editors, who if you tried to get a story published without have verified it or using unverified sources, would terminate your relationship with their organization. It is unfortunate that the media has become an advocate instead of a source of reliable information. anyone who jumps up on a high horse and claims that there is integrity in the media today is simply deceiving themselves with their foolishness. "In all, 7% of U.S. adults say they have "a great deal" and 29% "a fair amount" of trust and confidence in newspapers, television and radio news reporting -- In addition, 29% of the public currently registers "not very much" trust and 34% have "none at all." The burden of evidence is not on me it is on the media as evidenced by the following articles:

Where? When? Who? Please provide one example of a major news story anywhere in which all sources are identified. Not identifying your sources is the norm in reporting, not the exception, and beyond the village paper that has always been the case. It would not be possible to report on politics without using anonymous sources.

A lot of the mistrust in the press has more to do with people believing that whatever random notions they happen to have in their heads are as valid as a well-researched bit of journalism. That reporting of any stripe is not always 100% accurate (far more true for the popular right wing press over there than the so-called fake news NYT etc, the US is about the only developed country that hasn’t managed to develop a decent conservative press) is no excuse for pretending it’s all fake and so not engaging with it at all. People dismiss the news as fake because they don’t like it and because it doesn’t jibe with their own narrow and limited notions about the world, not because there is anything fake about it.

As indicated in the articles I posted you have a massive number of people that you have to convince that you are right and they are wrong, but good luck. Maybe you can come up with some overwhelming evidence that the media is a reliable source of information, as I said good luck.
